• Secret "City of Heroes Private Server" Exposed

I'm gonna be honest, MMORPGs don't interest me and nor does the prospect of playing Cities of Heros for myself, but this entire story has been a fucking rollercoaster ride to watch. I hope those of you who want to play for the first time/relive memories get that chance when this all blows over.
And now the github that was conducting work on trying to get i24/i25 online without Leandro's secret hostage sauce is restricted, can't even refresh the page to see the torrent magnets for the various leaked bits or even the description of the current state of things. Huh.
"All I wanted is private server for ~50 people. I want to control everything. Thankfully nobody will be able to run their own server." Wow, that an asshole.
I'm reminded of the total fucking melt who was a mod for a NMS-related subreddit (but not the 'main' one), and who Hello Games sent an audiotape to as part of their pre-patch ARG. He was one of about a dozen people who received audio casettes in the mail from HG, and it was at first assumed that every tape was needed to solve the puzzles. (This turned out not to be true in the end.) The fucker directly stated that he refused to release his tape unless everyone else sent their info to him so he could be the one to solve the puzzle, because he feared that once he gave the info on his tape up nobody would care about him anymore. He saw the HG tape as sudden fame and he had the daft idea of milking it for personal attention and tried to hold the entire ARG hostage from the entire NMS community because it meant he was relevant. He was talked out of this stupid idea in under 24 hours and HG revealed that not all of the tapes were required anyway, as they planned contingencies for if one or more tapes was lost/ignored, but jfc. Leandro is basically this guy on drugs because he scummily masterminded his way into singularly controlling something a lot of people want instead of having a token of interest thrown on his lap.

What the fuck?
Just fyi, for as much of a slimeball leandro is, these twitter convos are actually fake.
I'm guessing he's blaming that initial public host that suddenly ghosted on everyone and deleted everything. That, and there was a lot of discord controversy over sudden people demanding mod spots or the like because of "industry experience" that were trans, causing people to invoke the stereotype of such individuals seeking power and ruining everything. I don't actually hang in the discord though, so this is just second-hand from the day prior to the meltdown and around that time.
I give 0 fucks about the drama that unfolded due to this server. I dont care about peoples thoughts, pronouns, he said she said, or any other bullshit about it. The game is back and here to stay! To hell with people fanning and fueling the flames. Its only toxicity in the community. Drop the bullshit and move on.
So a trans person applied to be a public-facing position at one point. One of the first things that the applicant puts forward is her resume, as well as "uh my resume still contains my deadname, I'm trans, just fyi," so Inno asks "are you SURE you can handle this? We're half 4chan, you'll get shit on a TON and there's already a shitload of doxxing going around." When the applicant said pretty sure, he basically replies "I'll say yes if and only if you do not ever mention your being trans during your tenure, for your safety." The applicant was reticent to agree, so he turned her down. It was a clean break, and the applicant herself left satisfied and not feeling wronged. The problem is that the same screenshots Inno used to "leak" the interview to the rest of the mods to ask how he handled the situation, was leaked by one of the mods to the public. And so a crusade started against Inno because he TURNED SOMEONE DOWN FOR BEING TRANS!!!!! Simultaneously, there was a whole bunch of shit with Leo, such as that deleted tweet where he calls Inno a saboteur. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/109677/d4d5fb36-fccd-4824-a262-5d3f435555e4/image.png Some time after these came out, the subreddit announced that it is seceding and forming its own discord server, and it asks for identity information (preferred pronouns, name, etc) before you can view channels. I'm only mentioning this because it drew a lot of ridicule from many in the community. it honestly seems like he's just exploding after dealing with some extremely stressful shit due to what is being colloquially referred to as """"""discord trannies""""""" (did I put enough quotes around this to show that I'm not agreeing with this?) appearing out of nowhere and crucifying him after he tried to handle a ticking bomb with as much tact as he could muster, in an apparent power-grab.
Every third post in the 4chan CoH threads for the past several days has been screaming about "trannies taking over the discord" and poltards blaming them for everything that wasn't blamed on Leandro. These living wojacks flooded the discord with trolling and tried to shift the narrative to gender identity trolling the whole time, while the discord was just trying to keep shit under control. I went into a different thread in /vg/ and it was full of screaming about trans people with literally zero context or connection, so all I can conclude is that pol has taken over the site culture and made blaming everything on trans people the new meme.
I really, really hope this whole thing blows over and private servers start cropping up. I just want to play this game again.
"trans people looking for mod positions because of industry experience" is probably related to the applicant I was talking about earlier, she did cite many years of experience in the other half of the screenshots I cant find right now. I honestly think the 4chan "tranny" flipout is more of a defensive reaction to the unreasonable hate Inno received following the incident. But I'm just piecing together screencaps and shit, so take it with a grain of salt, but I honestly do believe this time, it wasn't /pol/tards that started the fire.
I found a reddit post with a guide and the binaries, I'll be trying to run this on my own and make a local server to see if it works. If it does, I'm going to be having one hell of a time.
Read carefully: I believe that the original incident was between Inno and a random person, not a channer, but after that? Open fucking season on trolling; half the CoH threads on the day of the big "everyone's deleting fucking everything because we got C&D'd/whoa now seems we overreacted" were screaming about trans and hating the discord(s). These tards didn't have the game to play so they played white noise for everyone else and made things more confusing, brigading the original discord so hard the admins made a new one and set up formal policies requiring pronoun disclosure out of overreaction (which only made /vg/ reee even harder and louder). I can't prove it but I guarantee some of the would-be trans applicants for modship were cis 4channers shitposting and clogging up the works because how dare trans people exist. Also because they were bored and wanted to play CoH but Leandro was (and still is) a gatekeeping cunt.
I got mine running lan only right now. Kind of a mess, but its there. Waiting for a more full fledged guide to make multiplayer.
