• Tim Sweeney- If Valve commits to permanent 88/12 cut, we will stop exclusivity

No. That's literally a low entry "gatekeeping" effort on their part. When it wasn't there, the store filled up with tons more garbage, so they put that there to stop that as you won't make a joke for a 100$ a thousand times over.
No. And there are ongoing costs associated with hosting and distributing games.
He deleted his account after I caught him red handed making the threads' worst post. Oof.
rip
How embarrassing.
It wasn't even a permaban either. It was only 2 days!
It's the attitude needed for people like Randy, the people behind Phoenix Point, and literal everyone who takes Epic's bribe.
The problem is that the Steam front page is ultra-important. If you get your game into the carousel at the top of the Steam Store front page, you'll enjoy about 10x more visibility than any other source of traffic generated by being listed on Steam combined. Whoever controls what goes on the Steam front page are kingmakers and Steam doesn't do nearly as much as they could to improve visibility and browsability for the entire catalogue. Never mind that story recently about how devs have been exploiting the "upcoming release" tab of the front page and repeatedly bumping themselves into it by deliberately setting their game's "release date" to an impending date, no matter what their actual release timeline looks like, and repeatedly missing scheduled launch windows with zero consequence. Steam has severe issues with being bloated and ill-prepared for how large it has become. It needs major overhauls to rethink how games receive store visibility and, importantly, front page visibility. But even with all that, the answer is not "take bribes from Epic to let them buy market share they don't deserve". That's like saying "Windows 10 doesn't have all the features I need so it's time to install TempleOS."
Looks like it also broke the "read X amount of time ago" green bar in this thread.
Yeah. The posts have to catch up to what it would have been before he deleted.
That sounds like a you problem and that you problem means jack shit to the industry at large, friendo. What really gets my goat here, as mentioned before, is that they expect Valve to PERMANENTLY adhere to this split when they themselves say it's unsustainable. It's mindboggling and i'd say almost genuinely evil.
"we will stop trying to take a few shitty games as exclusives on our store if you dip your profits by over 50%" ok sounds like a great deal tim thanks
That was the whole point of my post, but any way to get a patronizing shot in I guess.
valve donates every penny of the initial fee to child's play
What he means that what you do is more or less as far as an outlier can get, and using that very very specific position to argue all your points, which dont realistically apply to a good 90-95% of other users, just puts out a narrow minded, 'why cant they just do it my way for my uses' type of viewpoint when you're in a minority of a minority's position, especially when you refuse to acknowledge the bigger picture that such a viewpoint flies in the face of.
Thats it, i think Epic isn't getting money from this at all, 12% is prob the upkeep and they are doing this to push Steam out of, or to a very small part, of the market. They are being fucking Walmart/Amazon/etc.
He knows Steam won't stop being greedy af, it's just a statement.
How is Steam being greedy, especially by comparison?

Is it wrong to feel a smug sense of satisfaction from seeing this tweet? You could say I find those numbers to be, Satisfactory.
They say they are meming but then post this right after: https://twitter.com/SatisfactoryAF/status/1121300538673586178 seems more like: https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/facebook/001/096/564/2f7.jpg Anyone who purchases a early access title that has almost 0 way to tell anything about the dev cycle, how good the additions to the game are, or the current state of the game are literal morons. You're basically tossing your money into a void and hoping something good comes out.
What a irony, they tell you to act like an adult while they are memeing like 14 years old kids.
Tim Sweeney is honestly a charlatan and the fact that he's fooled so many people is insane to me. How in the hell is a video game company spending millions into what is basically propaganda a reality I live in?
I know this is just a totally offtopic and dickish nitpick but meanwhile on EGS Satisfactory page... https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/200318/51bc1e83-16a4-49da-837c-72ec14f2bb84/image.png early access system requirements!
That just hammers home the point that Valve is offering devs more than just a storefront in exchange for the 30% cut.
Wait, this is 9 copies sold in a month? If so, it's great that people are speaking with their wallets here, but that really sucks for the devs.
Note: These fuckers had one of their leads politely tell those looking for steam keys to fuck off.
Haha holy shit, 4 of those people go to my Uni. They have a channel in the eSports Club Discord.
Jesus when did Game Devs become so whiny?
