• Minecraft Creator Notch Isn’t Invited to the Game’s 10-Year Anniversary Event

Pretty sure that first one is fake (notch is still a shit person though)
I'll delete it and replace it with another of his countless stupid statements but from what I remember' that's a legit tweet and a few years old as well.
This is kind of irrelevant, plenty of incredibly successful games were built off the backs of existing games and their mechanics. Sure call it luck, call it good timing, who cares. Minecraft blew up, Infiniminer didn't. Notch ended up being a real piece of work, but it doesn't take away from the fact that he is the creator of literally one of the top 3 most succesful games of all time. And again, despite all of that, Notch is still a shit head who deserves what he's getting.
He hasn't been involved for years and honestly the game has grown at a significantly faster rate after he sold it and left the company than before. I remember when people were begging for a way to change your spawn point in survival, back when it was called infdev, for like... Months, and it just took forever for beds and other basic convenience features to get added. I feel like at this point he's not really owed any place at any events related to Minecraft, he doesn't do anything with it anymore and inviting him is practically begging for some sort of scandal anyways.
I'm more shocked by the fact Minecraft is ten years old. Getting older sucks.
I've been looking around but can't find any evidence to support either conclusion. If it's real then he must have deleted it lightning fast.
Well they're not obligated to bring him in, although given some of his dicer twitter stuff that has been posted in this thread that's probably for the better ...
I do seem to remember seeing that tweet get followed up with another one that said "Shit! How do I delete that?" or something like that, but I may be thinking of someone else.
Act like a deplorable and get treated like one
I'm not sure if you could call it luck. His success has made him miserable.
To be honest I think he was always that guy who spend most of his time in his room either programming or sitting on 4chan and end up having pretty skewed social skills. The money and publicity just made his condition far worse.
Not fake btw.  https://twitter.com/notch/status/22330335379333120
Well fuck me sideways
There are probably going to be lots of children at this event. I don't think Microsoft wants the PR nightmare of letting this lunatic near them.
Well it sucks for Notch however I don't think he's very torn up about this. The alternative MS would have to do is moderate his behavior which woulden't be swell for anyone. And in the event Notch does mind... tough grapes, it's no longer his.
Does anyone have the full tweet chain for that first tweet because my brother in law wants the full context
He's just dodging the question with dogwhistles. Anything involving IQ from the far right is going to be about race realism AKA "scientific" racism. He's saying that it should be normalized and seems to be implying that Jews are the reason why it currently isn't. So yeah he sort of implied Jews are smart, but also implied that a bunch of other races are dumb subhumans and that the Jews are using their intellect for evil, which does fall in line with part of the standard Nazi ideology.
They're only here defending him because Notch is a rightwing conspiracy retard now. If he wasn't, you wouldn't see hide nor hair of them complaining about his "unfair" treatment.
It's going to take more than that to convince my brother in law, and I'm not entirely sure of it myself. Again, if I could see the the full context of the "we let niggers vote" tweet conversation, I think that might convince him.
what are you not entirely sure of?
also this from the march 2nd tweet https://twitter.com/notch/status/1102349905681559552
this isn't funny, there are thousands of people who look up to this guy https://twitter.com/notch/status/1104677658745438208 https://twitter.com/notch/status/1104678103849156609 https://twitter.com/notch/status/1104678472964726784 https://twitter.com/notch/status/1107352901544894464 https://twitter.com/notch/status/1107159886020800514 https://twitter.com/notch/status/1105506296856338432
I've got no problem with them not inviting him to the anniversary -- if they don't want their brand associated with him at this point that is entirely reasonable. But I've got to say that I don't like this whole movement to erase his role in the creation of Minecraft. It just seems like people are trying to enforce the false idea that people who think bad things cannot make good things. I'm not a big fan of James Woods' personal opinions, but I still like his performance as Hades in Hercules, and I wouldn't want to see him not credited as the role he played. Besides, I think trying to erase the "bad" people from the credits of projects is a dangerous thing to do. It could lead people to more blindly trust the creators of the things they like, which we know at this point is a bad idea.
He is in the credits and is currently sitting on billions made from giving up all ownership of the IP. No one's eroded his role, they just don't want to be associated with him while he's like this. Many children play this game and the less they hear about him the better, all he has to do to fix this is be a better person.
he's still in the credits both when you beat the ender dragon and on the website https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/297971/e6e2f02d-1706-4d9e-8bd2-facd526d4c74/image.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/297971/a3aba763-41fd-443e-8bce-0d4d7f96983b/image.png Really the consequences for his actions and words arent big at all, it's all fake victimhood as usual. People need to face consequences for what they do and say.
If this was over him saying The Bad Word a few years ago and he was somewhat repentant for saying it then I personally would understand the drama around it and would probably feel sympathetic for him. HOWEVER. The dude is continuing to quadruple down on his own fucking ignorance and idiocy and is refusing to even acknowledge why what he's doing is viewable as cuntish, so fuck him in the ear, and fuck him in the other ear.
Man I'd love to see a timeline of Notch's decent into madness.
A Down The Rabbit Hole episode on Notch would be cool.
I think taking notch out of the credits would be wrong, since you’d basically be retconning history - but notch has no privilege to get invited to anything here. If he wants to be a racist man baby, let him face the “””consequences””” of people probably not enjoying his company very much. Microsoft is completely in the right here.
Question: when was the last time he was involved in any sort of update to the game? Even discounting the obvious delusional paranoia and egotism that makes him toxic to the brand, he has not been involved in Minecraft's development for years, memory serving he stopped personally working on it some time before he sold it off. He may have originally created the game, but he hasn't been a part of its ongoing development for such a long time that that alone could be reason to not include him.
