Like, you can argue you can excuse someone like Trump for being what he is, he does it for a reason, for power and money, because he catters to people that like those ideas. This is still fucking wrong, obviously, but the point that I'm trying to make is that Notch seems to be an idiot because, well, he is an idiot.

It's strange how Notch got so ornery and offensive over the past seven years. This is the same person who made the tumblr post "Gender in Minecraft" in 2012 which ends with "Take that, homophobes!" after stating all relationships in Minecraft are same sex since they're all genderless/androgynous.

I blame finding the wrong crowd at about the same time he got a big pile of money and stopped have to listen to anybody as a result.

He stopped working on Minecraft after it was released. Had the game not been early access (which got him a ton of money pre-release but also forced him to deliver a finished product) he probably
would've abandoned Minecraft more than a year earlier.

I've seen this a lot actually, my dad recruited people I've known who were about democrats into a lucrative industry, then when they make money it just becomes about them and they fall into the rabbit hole.

I wonder what percentage of kids who play, or have recently gotten into playing Minecraft actually know who Notch is. I imagine a lot of people just think Microsoft made it while the folks who played Minecraft in its earlier versions have grown up enough to realize that Notch is a piece of shit.

Yeah that was my understanding of it, he hired Jeb to take over programming, and Jeb essentially rewrote everything from scratch.
