Nice strawman
It's really not even a strawman since I'm pretty sure Tinbe's post was about it being on a trash store like EGS rather than being infested with kids like Rust. It's just a completely irrelevant shitpost.
Tinbe's is about EGS, Kylel responded by saying "oh no it'll be infested with kids" probably due to the large demographic of kids on fortnite, as an easy to do drive-by shitpost
That's exactly what a strawman is, though
He constructed a strawman of an argument (in this case, the most irrelevant strawman possible) and then proceeded to "defeat" it.
The humiliating part is that he didn't even successfully defeat the strawman he purpose-built to be easy to argue against.
That's a fair point. Though I'd say it's a big enough stretch that it was still pretty much totally irrelevant.
I might be splitting hairs a bit but I'd always been under the impression that strawmanning was taking your opponents argument and then trying to pervert it into something they're not actually arguing by basically satirizing it. The key part being that it still needs to actually be relevant to the argument you're using it against. (Which fs he was trying to refer to Fortnite then it is but so vaguely that it's more or less just outright lying about what Tinbe said from my point of view.)
People were skeptical of me when I said this exact same thing on the discord a while back. I will not be shocked whatsoever if this happens. Remember, Garry was also full onboard with the original Paid Skyrim Mod On Steam fiasco, and was talking about adding them to Garry's Mod. Dude has made it clear for ages that he has zero respect for his fanbase and fucking loves money.
I'd like to think he was onboard with the idea but not the implementation. I keep hearing about wanting to officially support add-on marketplaces in S&box so stay tuned for that?
Wow, my impulsive reply garnered a lot of arguing.
To clarify, yes, my reaction was due to me really not liking EGS. I've already had my hype for S&Box stiffled by some Gmod devs voicing thoughts about S&B being a dumbed-down version of UE4 and limits the original engine's capabilities. If on top of that it also got the dreaded "epic games exclusive" brand on it, I'd die a little inside.
It's time for JBMOD 2 guys. The mod everyone deserves
I really doubt it'd be an EGS exclusive, it seems to me that the only reason to do that would be if Epic bought it out as a timed exclusive and I don't really see that happening. Otherwise I don't really see an issue with releasing it on EGS as long as they also release it on other, more popular/better stores like Steam.
I don't care for EGS either but honestly the only serious issue I have with it are the timed exclusives because the whole idea is just scummy as hell. Otherwise it's just another digital game store that at worst doesn't seem to be as well thought out as others.
This is literally what epic has been doing with tons of games. This is their market strategy: Fuck the customer, just throw fortnite money at things until something good sticks.
We are all assuming that Epic even cares about what Facepunch is even doing to pay them an exclusivity deal.
By the way, I am still waiting for that public apology from any Facepunch employee for treating us like shit. Specially from you @Layla
This was his original response to paid mods for skyrim on steam:

I think you mean Pragma, which Silverlan posted an update about just earlier today!
I wouldn't have shilled it again, if it weren't for the fact that he just posted that update a few hours ago.
It just seems like S&Box is a bit too obscure for them to bother, but I could be wrong. If it ends up being an EGS exclusive though they can fuck right off, I would like to play it but I'm not bothering if it winds up being exclusive to EGS.
Gmod and Rust are both massive PC successes, both are games whose success was made possible entirely by Valve and Steam. Epic will payout to any millions to a dev just because the dev asks for it. Yes, absolutely.
Kids can use Steam, you know...
What I meant by implementation is how the money was split, I honestly wouldn't have an issue with how it was setup.
The whole "omg Garry's Mod is gonna be on Epic!111" should have been the strawman, not some stupid kids playing and enjoying the game
You know damn well it's gonna be, and if im remembering correctly, you get a real sweet deal with UE4 if you release on Epic
not even as an exclusive though, If you use their engine, the margin that's used to cover the cost of the store covers your engine licence fee too
god I HOPE Sandbox isn't on EGS. Less of a "Fuck EGS" deal, but lack of workshop support (meaning you'd have to code in your own thing!) coupled with not having my steam friends list … Honestly, if it's on EGS then I may just skip it
Vanilla Gmod really does get old surprisingly fast
Have them sell sandbox on EGS as "early access" for a year, cashing in on that deal, then once it's finished or the exclusivity contract dies have it also get sold on steam and give everyone who bought it on EGS a steam key. Win-win, all it will result in is extreme hate from everyone for one whole year but that should be no problem.
Jesus, that sounds terrible and you know what else? I'm not even a person who hates EGS for existing.
From a pragmatic standpoint, Sandbox would be a terrible product on EGS for one reason and one reason alone: No workshop. Remember back in the dark ages when you had to get mods from garrysmod.org and hope that what you got wasn't outdated, or how the SWEPs page would be full of obsolete crap and people listing their saved game files as sweps? I sure as hell do. And I'm not thrilled at going back to those days.
I suppose could code his own workshop feature that's outside of EGS but that just seems unnecessary when you have Steam.
Aside from this, you have a logistics issue of giving everyone who bought the game on EGS a steam key, and even if that went smoothly I really don't think epic would be thrilled about people jumping ship. Fucks sake, if I was epic then I would deliberately disallow this kind of shit for soaking up sales.
I wasn't serious about that at all, more so thinking of how to fuck over EGS. Of course EGS has no features that would make Sandbox actually work so putting the game on there is dumb, unless garry and the rest of the team is so thrilled to make a workshop alternative which I doubt tbh.
I thought my last sentence made it clear that I wasn't serious about seeing the game put on EGS.
Valve doesn't like Garry's Mod mounting other Steam games for content, Epic likely doesn't give a shit as long as it makes them money, they already access Steam to pull information from it. I don't find it that outlandish that a game could load content from pretty much any game you have installed, anywhere on your computer.
Having a title under your launcher that can really take advantage of the content ecosystem they have for UE and even potentially import content from all of your competing platforms. Maybe even encouraging your customers to file share/pirate game content from those competing platforms to use on your own platform seems like the most legally grey thing possible to do but still genius.
The only reason Garry wouldn't move over to the Epic Launcher at this point is that it wouldn't make him a ton of fucking money. Not unless Epic gave him that money.
