Really sounds like a 'deal with the devil' situation. Guy puts on a facade to keep Doug's rights to the NC character with Doug and co thinking he can be trusted. Now he's in a fuckton of controversy surrounding the company and he's hardly in any of them apart from shit production and the one instant where he and his bro helped a friend walk home while carrying bats. On top of that, go to his Facebook page and you'll get a ton of people outright denying his part in the shitheap and block others out that mention them. I put the fault on the producer and the fans for being so shit and abusing their workers and being in total denial. I pity Doug really and looking at his videos he's getting more and more desperate for cries of help. Now he has to either quit, make a new channel and risk being defamed by his boss, or just keep going until something worse comes along and he HAS to drop the role for good.
If an individual's main source of internet success originates from portraying a character then owning as many rights to that character as possible is IMMENSELY important.
Although none of this would be a problem if Doug did other shit and just fully abandoned Nostalgia Critic and came up with a completely different brand new idea for a show or did a full rebrand, naming himself the Former Media Inspector or something.

ProJared is officially being wiped from all NormalBoots-related social media. His page on the website, his videos, his name on Twitter, pretty much everywhere they can find it.
TBH I completely forgot the NormalBoots site still existed. I thought they just stopped maintaining it or something.
In other words, I wonder if Jared is going to even bother trying to come back from this. I'm not ashamed to say I liked his videos but I haven't watched any of them for a long time.
i feel bad for the guys at Normalboots. I bet Furst and PBG are feeling real stupid for acting on their intial urges to defend their friend before more evidence came out. I hope they make the right choices and apologize and admit to their mistakes and moce on.

This is depressing. I wasn't super devoted to ProJared or anything, I only watched a few of his videos here and there, but he seemed like such a "safe" Youtuber that this news comes straight out of left field. Why does it seem like the ones that turn out to be perverted weirdos are the "safe" looking ones, rather than the people whose humor is a lot dirtier/weirder by default?

Sorta. They learned and were working to get rid of him without any drama, but because its all coming up now they're cutting him quickly. And they're changing their internal policy to likely include something along the lines of, "No sending dick pics and no asking to see 16 year olds' tits." Which shouldn't really need to be in a corporate policy but here we are.
There's no "right" that needs to be given you turd, she has as much of a platform as literally anybody does to have their voice heard. She's not being defamatory.
If they knew a month beforehand about the shit Jared was doing they should have cut him out sooner. I understand there's due process and at that point they were just allegations but I think they should have acted a little sooner.
Also apparently PBG is in some shit for defending him but seeing as how no one but the legal team actually knew about what was going on I can see PBG coming out and saying something along the lines of "I didn't know the whole story". PBG doesn't need this drama attached to him, he's one of the better ones.
wish people would stop trying to vilify normalboots over this. its not as easy as removing a few videos like gamegrumps did. this is removing all associations with a brand.
People still see Normalboots as just a group of friends and not a business/brand. Even if they know that, I doubt any of them would have stopped themselves from vilifying Normalboots.
I could also see Normalboots not necessarily assuming it would publicly blow up the way it has. They might have thought it would carry on as a low-key personal scandal that few people cared about, or didn't feel comfortable outing him themselves.
You might compare it to when James Gunn's old tweets resurfaced, and when Disney brought that into the public eye and fired him, they faced a ton of controversy and backlash from people who thought he didn't deserve it. It just looks to me like they didn't want to make waves, which makes sense to me since they're acting as a company that manages several people, and not as an individual. I think it's pretty common for companies to be reactionary when it comes to morality, and less often are they about taking bold decisive actions.
It's easy for me to say I wouldn't have gone about it the same way, since I'm just one person. This was understandably not an urgent thing for as long as it wasn't actively threatening their existence as a company.

My main takeaway from this is that ProJared is a special kind of predator. He doesn't seem to relish in targeting youth specifically - at least I don't get that impression from what I've seen. Instead, it seems he honestly doesn't care for the age of those who he targets. Whereas most pedos have something clearly broken in them and have a special 'need' to seek out children, it seems to me that Jared's sexual manipulation and exhibitionism are purely for self-gratification.
It's almost like he doesn't get, or never thought about, the consequences for his actions, or what they mean. I mean, look at this post:

You can clearly see that posting (and by extension associating with his brand name) nude photos of himself doesn't seem to phase Jared as that bad of a thing. He doesn't think 'nude photos of myself exposed to children' and get disgusted. Instead, he worries about ''ending up in some scandal somehow.'
How fucking detached from reality can you be, dude?
Until now he was probably entirely unconcerned with how he was affecting the lives of the young people in question. I honestly think he didn't see anything predatory about it, probably seeing himself as a 'young dude' and not a pedo predator.
Of course, it's a worthless distinction to make. It doesn't matter the reasons, its inexcusable, abhorrent, all the rest. I just think it spells out a special kind of detached ignorance that ProJared has, and I honestly look forward to seeing how the bastard handles the fallout.
