Chicago Cubs fan banned after flashing neo-Nazi hand symbol

My point is that the okay sign doesn't have anywhere remotely the same connection to nazism as the swastika was my point, he just dragged it down this route for some reason.
Not freaking out at every person using the okay sign isn't going to send us down some mad slippery slope to genocide.
Yeah, I think the okay hand thing being linked to Nazis appears to be more of a meme than anything. It's one of those things that I simply don't care enough about to get angry.
That's fair, I see what you mean. I'm on mobile and haven't seen that contrapoints video yet.
remember the episode of Malcolm in the Middle where Malcolm flashes the white supremacist symbol at Stevie?

so if a nazi waves, I can't wave either because a nazi waved?
if a nazi decides to do a somewhat specific handshake that can easily be replicated by anyone else, but is still unique enough to catch the eye, that means its a nazi handshake?
heck, if I start counting by my thumb like the nazi in Inglorious Basterds, I'm a nazi aswell?
Jesus fucking christ
Yet another post strawmanning me and putting words in my mouth. Please point out where I said we should stop using the okay symbol because it's developed a covert alt-right meaning, or that we should paint this dude as a Nazi because he did it.
imo it start the moment people notice and comment about it
What?
I've said this several times in the thread already: I don't agree with banning this dude. Doing an okay sign doesn't make him a Nazi. If that's what you got from my post, you are projecting shit onto it.
Last year I led a middle school program over the summer, and one of the things they liked to do most was the old hand sign game below the waist etc. etc. One of our interns went to great lengths to pull it on the more energetic kids.
Fuck guess we indoctrinated them all into Nazi ideologies lol whoops.
"often associated with the white supremacist movement."
Fuck off.
Does the last 40 years of society just not exist anymore? Do all previous connotations of that symbol disappear because for some reason a couple of shitheads on the internet now count as all of society?
I don't care if it's being used as an extremist symbol by some, I'm not going to let a bunch of political extremist retards hijack an innocent hand gesture for their own purposes/agenda
Plus people seeing this gesture as something evil is one of the exact reasons why they started to use it, to fuck with the public but more specifically the media.
"[drinking milk] ends up being racist"
Back when it was just a joke, yes, I agree. It stopped being a joke when actual white nationalists decided to actually start using it as a symbol for white power.
👌
I thought that was just some meme where some dude holds their hand like that and gets you to look at it and the laughs at you
seeing 👌 and having your first thought be "that's the white supremacist symbol" is a symptom of being terminally online
this isn't surprising, the mods have always been nazis.

Satisfactory is now a Nazi game.

A very controversial depiction Stevie's descent into White Supremacist propaganda.
But how would you determine if somebody is using it in a Nazi way or not? We can't let far-right people adopt everything and ruin it. They're doing it for attention and I don't think it's worth getting worked up about.
Oh,I do have to apologize then.
It's easy, just look closely at who's flashing the OK sign.
If they're running towards the Warsaw ghetto, laughing and hauling a large can of Zyklon B, they might be nazis

Jesus fuck these morons are falling right into Adolf Hitlers lap by going along with deeming the fucking swastika sign as "In the swastika, the mission of the struggle for the victory of the Aryan man, and, by the same token, the victory of the idea of creative work."
I guess facepunch is also part of the alt-right indoctrination, since it has the "snowflake" rating and that has been seen used a lot by right wingers.
put Garry and everyone in FP behind bars the sick fucks.
"Is the person using it a white nationalist" is usually a good question to start with.
It feels like I'm reading a variation of 'Who's on first?' with this thread.
If you legitimately believe the "OK" hand symbol to be an alt-right/nazi symbol, I have some beachfront property in the Mojave Desert to sell you.
tfw you explain exactly how white supremacist symbology is carefully managed and disseminated specifically to make anyone pointing it out look ridiculous and an entire thread accuses you of falling for white supremacist schemes because you look ridiculous, insists they're the ones who really have a tight grasp on the evolution of visual language and the normalization of extremism, and prove it by parroting exactly the same intentionally absurd well-by-your-logic analogies that white supremacists use to cast doubt on anyone paying attention to what they're doing. It's like I'm reading a fucking case study as it's being written.
Yep just reported Facepunch to the Southern Poverty Law Centre as a breeding ground for racist hate ideology.
All the White Supremacist symbols being used in this thread will only help.
