Yeah, I don't give a shit anymore. I would be annoyed if this was the Outer Worlds
Damn I was fucking hyped for this since that little playable demo thing like 5 years ago.
The Outer worlds is already Epic story exclusive.
only because we still don't have enough speed to stream games without any loss, which doesn't applies to movies for example
oh fuck
Pretty sure it'll be available on the Windows Store too unless I'm mistaken.
Oh now I remember this game, I remember Scott Manly playing it! It was really good... Shame the devs clearly couldn't give a shit less about players.

Console exclusives are fine.
It's a very different thing to be able to develop for a specific type of hardware, and work with its limitations. Stuff like that births creative solutions, and sometimes really impressive results.
Console exclusivity isn't when a developer decides they're gonna only make the game for one platform because they lack the resources, it's when they get paid huge money not to release anywhere else. That sucks because it means the game is going to get an afterthought port a year after release, if at all. It doubly sucks because this is MO for consoles and keeps them more relevant than they should be later into their lifecycles. It triply sucks because those "creative solutions" usually means 1080p 30fps.
What? Most Console Exclusives are from developers bought and owned by the console manufacturer. You're talking about second party developers which all but died or signed into console manufacturers to become first party.
Sony/Nintendo/Microsoft all foot the bill and resources needed for these exclusives to be made. This is entirely different and a situation that most have admitted is fine even in regards to PC stores with Origin having EA games and Steam, even, with its Valve games.
I swear to God, this is muddling the waters.
Exactly, no one had a problem with Fortnite or Unreal Tournament (RIP) being exclusive to Epic's store. It's paying developers to not put their games on other stores that's the problem.
Honestly, my biggest problem with EGS as a whole is the exclusivity of the titles going on there - it's ridiculous that what was meant to make games more accessible, arguably the big selling point for me and others and the biggest reason I and others had for getting onto online digital distribution websites and services like Steam in the first place, has now made them more and more restricted. Bums me out that games like the Sinking City, something I'd be genuinely interested in getting anywhere else, is locked off behind a tacked-on exclusivity deal for a full year.
I've a problem with Epic's bullshit snatching of games often mere months away from launch off of other platforms with the siren's-song of bribe-like exclusivity deals, the pithy response to concerns about EGS which the likes of Tim Sweeney have given vis-a-vis his "gamer's don't know that we're improving the industry" remarks, and the unsubstantiated (?) reports that Epic's full of spyware with links to PRC companies like Tencent which have a history of siphoning user data.
Maybe third party exclusives, but I really don't have a problem with first party exclusives.
we would NEVER get games like God Of War if it wasn't for those first party exclusives. That's a trade off, but it's worth it IMO
