Epic Gamestore will need recurrent microtransactions before this can actually be a thing. Come on. GTA5 gets most of its money from people buying shark cards. RDR2 Online is structured the same way.
I see Sweeney is continuing to pay for my copies so I can be a pirate guilt-free, he's actually not so bad.
I've always gotten the impression that Rockstar has nothing but disdain towards PC users in all honesty, it always seems that they just put their games on PC to rake in more cash and I could totally seeing them going with EGS for some bonus $$$.
I feel like it's time to stop making news about this kind of thing, and that we should just learn to accept that EGS exists, as scummy as it seems to be forced to use another shitty platform.
there just saving me money, i have a bad habit of buying shitty games at launch now i can buy them all in 6-12 months at much lower cost
This is exactly what Epic wants us to do. If we stop getting enraged by it, then it becomes normalized. People rightly kicked up a shitstorm about microtransactions and horse armor bullshit. Then people like you told them to stop making a fuss every time, and they did. Now microtransactions are so normalized we literally and unironically say "Oh thank god it only has horse-armor microtransactions!" People rightly kicked up a shitstorm about preorders and multiple versions selling gatekept content. Then people like you told them to stop making a fuss every time, and they did. Now preorders and premium editions are so normalized we literally and unironically say "Oh thank god it's only pre-order bonuses and $100 for the full game." People rightly kicked up a shitstorm about lootbox bullshit. Then people like you told them to stop making a fuss every time, and for a time they started to. If it wasn't for the hilarious blunder that was Battlefront 2, they would have also been normalized, and we'd find ourselves saying literally and unironically "Oh thank god it only has lootboxes!" The last thing we need to do is stop making a fuss every time about Epic Games Store and its brutal bullying and anticompetitive acts. I don't want to see a world where that becomes so normalized that we literally and unironically say "Oh thank god it's only been bribed to be exclusive for a year on the Epic Game Store in an act to starve out and destroy the competition while simultaneously limiting consumer choices." No fucking thank you.
