Team Fortress 2 won't get any more community medals for the forseeable future

Porting it to Source 2 would honestly destroy modding for the game. Imagine the pain with getting Sourcemod plugins working again. This would hurt the server communities more than it would do good.

it would also bring back some people and add new possibilities, so while some things would die I'm sure other stuff would take over as soon as Valve shows interest in keeping the game up to date.

If Source 2 does bring better performance and modding support for instance then I can see it being helpful, but I have heard from many sources that Source 2 still has its own share of problems and that it's less modding friendly. Don't know how accurate that is, but it wouldn't surprise me much given how much Valve has changed their attitude.

Considering valve over the years has been making more and more hacky fixes which also happened to negatively affect modding and customization just for the sake of protecting their precious economy I wouldn't get my hopes up for it. There's definitely place for both but valve isn't really the kind to make compromises anymore and would rather opt for a quick and lazy fix rather than doing things right, so it'd probably be better for them not to touch anything than to potentially make things worse.

Honestly, I was sick of those, since the game would often update with them. I'm happy they'll stop flooding in for some time.
