So in other words, the players have managed to show what Rockstar and Take Two have turned their franchises into: a wasteland filled with piles of burning corpses
I still have nightmares about tugboat spam in GTA IV
you know, there's P2P videogames and there's Rockstar's bullshit P2P nonsense, where the client has full control of not only himself but other clients. It's not even a matter of getting shot through walls like in most games, a hacked client can literally execute commands on your client because fuck security, it's not like R* cares, buy sharkcards. I don't even need dedicated servers, I just want to be able to play a decent videogame with my friends without having to worry about a random asshats literally getting other people banned by dropping cash on other players. It's amazing how they have all this budget and use almost none of it in the infrastructure, gotta maximize those profits I guess
Remember that time hackers could streamsnipe speedrunners playing campaign as long as their game was connected to the rockstar servers?

Rockstar gets a little bit of credit for patching it within a day but it's just another addition to the long line of rockstar showing incompetence in networking. Their inability to stop cheaters on top of making dick twistingly large amounts of money via shark cards isn't a good look, but that's just Rockstar and 2Ks MO.
