Google suspends some business with Huawei after Trump blacklist

That's why Samsung is banned from selling in America.
From some German news sites I read that current phone owners will likely have little to no effects besides late security/OS updates, which isn't nice either but at least it seems like current users don't loose all the google apps suddenly.
This is the big problem with android and why a lot of people don't like it, sure the base OS is open source, but most big functionality is hidden behind google play services which is not open source.
I still really don't understand the ban. Nothing makes sense. And I'm posting this one a OnePlus phone, which is another Chinese company, but is seemingly fine?
I get that intelligence agencies are secretive, and Google is just complying with the law here, but the only actual statement I've ever found is that Huawei has been "accused" from multiple people to be trying to intercept state secrets.
I also think it's insane that state secrets would ever even pass through backend network equipment, for a cellular network, unencrypted.
I have to be missing something here, but it also seems like we're never going to be able to find out.
Yeah, something's not right about this at all.
Why exactly Huawei? There's been accusations, but haven't they all been either without proof or proven wrong?
Why block only Huawei, and not other chinese phone makers?
Huawei makes network infrastructure equipment. Those are what was bugged and why they're being targeted. The phones are just a casualty of that.
Ha. This also triggers CGA.

Key information:
If you live in New Zealand and the Huawei phone that you purchased no longer connects to the Play Store, and/or no longer receives security updates: you get a refund under the CGA
There's been a small update on this: existing phones will still be able to use Google apps and will get app updates, but not security updates. That's still a reason to return under the CGA

NZ Retailers are gonna hate this.
i came across this on twitter, its an official "huawei facts" twitter

Google is legally obligated to do this.
well fuck me i guess. love the 7x but i guess this means this was the last security update i'll ever get
You'll likely still get security updates, but you won't get Android OS version upgrades as that would require a functioning Google Play license, which they no longer have.

Just realised.
Huawei make laptops.
They use Windows.
Windows is a product of Microsoft.
Microsoft is based in Redmond USA.
Also rip Huawei laptops.
Huawei got a 3 month delay on the ban and will likely use the 3 months to negotiate with the US government, which is the same thing that ZTE did a few years ago.
Also Intel, Nvidia, and AMD.
Oh fuck those companies too.
Either they planned this and they want this to happen(which would be DUMB) or US Govt just made a 500iq move doing this.
This might be just me but this kind of weird pretentiousness using the whole "big tech company" as an excuse makes them look even more suspicious
ARM stopped as well
Yep. I'll post a source here.

So I guess Huawei's Kirin SoCs are now gonna have to use a different architecture as well in the future.
Doubt they could pull that off. It's too expensive to develop a new processor from scratch for a single phone vendor.
tinfoil time: the US are mad at huawei because they can't install backdoors on huawei hardware
more mad at china possibly installing backdoors in US/allied infrastructure
Huawei already has plans for a new OS (albeit still very early according to rumors). I remember them boasting about how it would still be able to run Android apps, and they already have a new storefront lining up to replace Google Play for them in Aptoide.
However, given how terrible Huawei's take on Android (EMUI) is, I have absolutely no interest in using it if they somehow ever came to the US with it.
As for SoCs, yeah, I'd say they're pretty much shit out of luck. Maybe they could make an SoC based on RISC-V, but I very much doubt the performance is there yet for that architecture.
Huwai is the only fucking company that opened their firmare sourcode to a Fiveeyes country
I wonder how this will effect Hauwei's social credit score
