My stepfather was a fairly decent-looking man who was very friendly and lovable nice at first, then when we moved in with him and was most at his mercy he started getting drunk, violent, and racist as hell to the point me and my mother needed to move to another state to get away from him. Then we went to the same cycle with my mom's next bf who was actually pretty handsome (though a bit chubby), who not only was emotionally and to a lesser extent physcially abusive, but also massive fucking creep towards me. You can never really know what kind of person someone is from the outside.

I've think i've seen a photo of this, not going to post it for obvious reasons because it's a fair bit of blood. From the way I understand it in Japan at least, it comes from the insane work culture of Japan where you either don't have time to date, are way too stressed to date, or a combination of both, meaning most people including guys and girls don't really feel wanted by anyone because they don't have anyone. For people like that, including Otakus who are notorious for being shut-ins, it means they kind of fetishize attractive people who want you so much they're willing to be violent to get to you. Everyone wants to be wanted, it's just how humans are, even if that need is less than other people around you. For most people it's fine, they do find others who want them and they want them back, but for those who never find others, it makes their want only grow until they start fantasizing about attractive people like this wanting them to the point of violence. Not to be insulting but I'm sure plenty of people on this forum understand that desperation of want. I know I do. People just project that onto fantasy characters who will never be real because that's the media and stories they're presented with.
