For me, it's because it's Kojima and that the MGS games have very interesting, unique lore alongside being great games. While the MGS lore wasn't entirely due to Kojima, what we have seen of this new game is already quite mysterious and intriguing - there's lots of hints and clues and ideas that have resulted in all sorts of interesting theories on just what this even is about. It's a combination of a compelling mystery and a semblance of depth along with it being from a creator with great previous games.
Even the more wild theories like this really being a new MGS game (because there were some wierd things that didn't quite add up) add a bit of intrigue to this for me, despite obviously not being true.

I think i understand the skepticism over not knowing exactly what the game is, but i do think its important to keep in mind that Kojima and his team are very very good at making video games. I cant actually name a KojiPro game (including the stuff they made before they were called KojiPro) that i played wasnt at least a solid 8 in at least the game aspect. Even his first few games, like Metal Gear 1 and 2, are still pretty good despite their age (2 infinitely more than 1). Story is where i can see it being a toss up, but even then the later Metal Gears really only got so dumb because each and every one was meant to be the last so they kept having to retconning more and more shit to justify new games until you got to MGSV where its just an abominable retcon homunculi given physical form, while this has no pre-existing continuity to maintain.

Based on what he's said before about the release date coupled with that i think its probably a fall 2019 to spring 2020 release.

When Kojima puts his heart into something it usually becomes something very special. So that alone (plus I already own a PS4) makes me hyped enough. Lets see wtf this is. Also, just a guess here: release date will be 11/15/2019
I hope it doesn't come out on the 29th because combining Pathologic 2 with Death Stranding will probably result in some Cthulhu-ian levels of existential crisis.
i am really excited for death stranding, being an avid lover of esoteric, fuckin weird and nigh impenetrable games (pathologic's one of my favs and pathologic 2 is no walk in the park either)

Suddenly it's revealed that every human on earth has a numbered strand of code and we have to combine them together to create the game.
This is what makes me excited about it (even if I won't be able to play it...), finally a modern Hideo Kojima game that doesn't need to rely on a two decades old pre-existing storyline.

I am really confused by people who think that the game doesn’t have combat, you literally see your character pull out a gun in one of the trailers, another straight up has the intro to what is obviously a boss fight
In this day when trailers and youtube suggestions spoil everything, when people analyse the shit out of every single press image for a movie so that nothing is left to experience, I'm glad as hell we have something coming out no one knows shit about. I just want to wait for the reviews to see if it's generally good or not and then decide if to buy it or not.
If only this were on PC, we'd see a "Mads in a Mankini" mod inside of a week.
