Chinese company uploads actual Battlefield 1942 to steam

It's also a cultural thing. In china, if someone's already done something, but better, you just take it and use it for yourself. It's seen as something postivie, taking the path of least resistance, being clever, etc. Why waste time and effort when there's already a better way you can just use? They simply don't see it as something wrong.
I think it's just a product of them being in east asia in a world where the west is still just abouts the hegemonic king. So I think a lot of what they do is trying to emulate the west, but then I think partially due to cultural differences it just comes out wrong. Though I think it was an ADVchina video where they said that in china there's a lot of restrictions on what art can be made, and that the government tries to do these weird shill campaign things that just come out wrong and cringy.
I mean don't get me wrong, there's some amazingly talented musicians, artists and programmers who've come out of east asia, but they pretty much just do western stuff.
There's japan as well, where everything "original" that comes out of there just sounds like a jazz or prog rock rip off, but done wrong and it feels like they've misunderstood what they're trying to emulate.
This video gets into part of the attitude:

China isn't even remotely communist in its modern form lmfao, its nearly laissez faire capitalist with a fascist government
I don't know what YZM is, but in any case this isn't just BF1942 in your Steam library. Wouldn't risk it.

The Internet doesn't know what YZM means either. This is the closest I can find, and the only way this makes sense is if the "developers" of this "game" literally paid Australians to write them a DRM server for their stolen game.
Tell us that "real communism" has never been tried before.
If you think China is genuinely Communist, you must also think North Korea is Democratic.

Real communism has been tried in that governments have gotten into power with the promise of implementing real communism and then didn't.
So if you consider that as communism being "tried" then I guess you could say communism has been tried before.
If your definition of communism being "tried" involves an actual classless, stateless society existing in a country, even for a moment, then it hasn't really been tried before except for very small scale examples. Whether that is because it's inherently impossible (which is my belief) is up for debate.
It's not good in the least, but their social credit system is innovative and efficient to the extreme. And that's, no word of a lie, horrific, because they have refined and engineered a system of oppression to the point that it is almost automatic.
Reminder that no country on earth currently can be communist by the definition of communism unless it had a slave class that took care of literally all obligatory labor
What does this even mean other than "I couldn't find any good examples of Japanese music"?
I'll challenge that any day.
I mean, Japanese pop culture is absolutely awful about pandering to the same fifteen things on the stereotypical pop list, and a lot of their music is massively manufactured, even worse than in the west. I think that's what Coffee might've been going for.
At least I hope it is, because on the face of it the statement is not only dumb but incorrect.
This reminds me of when EA promised Battlefield 3 owners a free copy of 1943, and then just didn't include it.
Yes because China totally still has a communist government and doesn't have a bunch of greedy corporations that feed off the people with the help of the Chineese government.
Almost everyone realizes that China isn't communist anymore dude. They haven't been that way since the late 70s. Get with the times old man.
How did this thread go from laughing at some chinese knockoff to arguing about communism?
I think one of the reasons is because China wasn't really into exporting their culture until relatively recently. The vast amount of stuff that China makes, especially media, is for the consumption of their citizens and they couldn't care about the rest of the world and their puny market. This means that a bunch of original stuff (though it still may be incredibly derivative) never leaves the country. For example, we in the West may only see a trickle of the seemingly thousands of adaptations of Journey to the West and The Romance of the Three Kingdoms that get made every year.
I've listened to quite a lot stuff that's come from Japan and I just don't think any of it is any good or original.
I mean, perhaps there's something really good that isn't too derivative of western styles, you're welcome to post some examples to persuade me otherwise.
I think that's called the American """""middle-class"""""
Oh, the screenshots have changed now
Now it looks like a boring game with flipped assets. That's something, right?
So it looks like they realized they've been had, and hastily updated the game with a very low poly Sherman tank (for both factions it seems) and on a generic grassland with obvious repeating textures.

Furthermore, the long multi-paragraph description that used to be a badly written description of Battlefield 1942 has been cut down to:
It has single-person mode against computer and multi-person online. In the game, players can choose five kinds of tanks: Tiger Tank, Panther Tank, Flame Tank, Heiman Tank and T-34 Tank.
Operations in different environments can be steep mountains, densely forested jungles, deserts, you will bring a team of tank troops, or you will fight for survival alone.

You may not enjoy this guy's music but I dare you to claim this guy's derivative of Western music unless you're going to claim anything with a guitar counts.
I don't know about derivative of Western styles, but there's a bunch of really good Jap music I've come across in various contexts. I tend to prefer instrumental stuff though.
I don't really have time to compile something massive, and i apologize if my music taste sucks

Should mods not bsn themselves for dragging this off-topic?
I feel like I've heard various things in that song from various pieces of western music, usually pop or americana, and also at 5:14 it reminds me of Thela Hun Ginjeet by King Crimson
no
