• An Incel goes under the knife to become a Chad

They're not interested in being better people. They're interested in looking succesful, "hot", and getting laid. They're literally 17 year old(mentally) man children who never got over basic ideas of sexuality that stem from being a teen in a highly oversexualized society. They're dumb, and I feel some pity for them, because knowing how the spiral of self-hatred works, I know there's very little anyone could do to genuinely help these idiots. Anything, and everything they need to do to better themselves comes from inside, comes from self awareness and retro-spection and introspection. They're not interested in any of that.

Hey quick question, is his face lopsided, or is it just me?
Every time I see pics of "incels" they're always around average or even above and this is no exception. Surgery isn't going to fixed their warped views on how dating works or their misogynistic attitudes. I'd feel bad for them since there's clearly a lot of body dysmorphia and outright delusion going on, but it's hard to feel too bad when their views are often so vile.
It's equivalent in the sense there's a shared reaction to cultural beauty standards being increasingly tied to your social status as society modernizes and changes, and in that sense there's equivalence in mocking vanity in either case.
Looks matter, sure, but if this whatever-the-fuck-this-is: https://i.imgur.com/rhaj51R.png can get a fucking model for a wife, it's not your fucking looks that are the problem.
There are entire tv shows, magazines, websites, communities dedicated to chasing and uncovering who has had plastic surgery (ok fair enough mainly celebrities). Women (and men) gossip about which woman has had plastic surgery endlessly. Small touch ups like botox and small amounts of filler might be more commonplace now but only because people tend to get smaller touch ups these days rather than pumping your whole face full of the poison and looking like a wax statue for 6+ months. Bad, extensive or dramatic plastic surgery gets talked about whether the recipient is male or female and this to me seems like a very extreme form of plastic surgery. Most women don't go this heavily into facial reconstruction. So yes I guess it is acceptable for women to get plastic surgery, but so it is for men. They both will be talked about and gossiped about though.
It seems like incels are the next SJW scare. "This group of evil people with horrible beliefs is coming for YOU to control your sexuality and behavior!" Never mind that neither group is large enough to be nearly relevant enough compared to the real estate they're consuming in society's mind.
Goes in to look like a chad, will come out looking like a C.H.U.D.
I think Incels might actually be dangrous in a certain way. If people believe it's okay to go down the rabbit hole of self hatred to the point they end up believing that the rest of the world is the real problem because they can't bear to face themselves, and that spreads, as it seems to at some level, then that's problematic IMO. I don't know how many incels pose a threat like Elliot Rodgers did, but I think many of them may be long term threats if nothing can be done to help with what is clearly a real mental health issue. These people are at fault for how they are, and the internet echo chambers they've found themselves in only make this worse to a large degree. The article focuses on the manner in which people who do seek self improvement through more real means are ostracized from the group at a certain point, once they stop being part of the echo chamber. That's dangerous, in some way, I believe.
This paragraph seems to demonstrate how they're, at least in part, not fully at fault for the way they are. They've basically been indoctrinated into a cult, and this isn't the way I feel like we should handle victims of a cult.
If getting plastic surgery helps with someone's self-esteem and mental health then I don't think it should be stigmatised. But I think that in the case of Incels going under the knife, we all suspect that this won't help nearly as much as the recipient hopes and that there are underlying issues that need to be addressed first.
While I think there's nothing wrong with plastic surgery even if it's totally just to make one look better, I think that the cost of the surgery might have been better spent on therapy
The problem is studies show how effective therapy is is based on who you have as a therapist. Throwing money at therapy isn't always going to be a solution either, though it should come a long way before these kinds of efforts. Therapy is a mixed bag for a lot of people, because getting the wrong therapist to help you out can set you back both financially and mentally as they might not identify your problems correctly. I'd still say your right, but that it's just not quite "that" simple.
Plastic surgery would not help them at all, and might even make things worse.
I love how the first image section in the article is called "Naturally Occuring Chads" I guess these people were born with the chad gene.
Oh yes that's true even from what I've seen personally. It's a huge shame, I wish there were more breakthroughs in mental healthcare.

It's always easier to try and drag someone down to your level than it is to rise yourself up to theirs, especially on the internet where you can't see the effect doing that has on someone.
Inceldom has got to be the most socially awkward bullshit ever. Have they not ever heard the saying "Not with that attitude, you don't"?
Makes me feel like they're talking about Chads you could find in the wild. Like you're trekking in the forest and then you come across a wild Chad. For a fleeting, magical moments, your eyes meet, but then he runs off back to the forest's depth to resume his natural life of pumping iron and picking up females.
All of them look absolutely fine in the before-pictures. In the end all you get is the same broken person with some more protruding cheekbones.
Already been said a few times but I really want to comment on just how hard they torpedo their own worldview with those photoshops. These guys all look fine. The harshest thing I could say about any of the guys in the article would be "maybe do something with your hair". Meanwhile the edited images make them all look like they tried to make themselves in the Fallout 3 character creation window. What do you know, maybe It really is their shitty, childish, personalities and abhorrent misogynistic views that are holding them back, who would have guessed?. This "few inches of bone!!!" "born too ugly to get laid" rhetoric is so fucking easily disproved and yet they still cling to it. I have a very prominent nose. In my late teens, I was attacked and my nose was left permanently disfigured. It is now visibly dented and sits slightly asymmetrically on my face. It's a drastic enough break that my nose looks a different shape depending on whether it's viewed from the left or right. Sounds pretty bad right? So why aren't I doomed to be an Incel?. I was a huge fuckin nerd even before the most prominent feature of my face got completely smushed, and yet I still got laid. I still had girlfriends and boyfriends. I still moved in with my partner and I still got engaged. I'd honestly love to hear an Incel's rationalisation of shit like this, and marvel at whatever kind of mental gymnastics they perform... but the thing is- they manage to be such off-putting, offensive, and unlikable people- that I wouldn't really want to interact with them long enough to get my answers. And maybe that's their fucking problem.
Have you guys seen the physical cover for this article? It's absolutely hilarious https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D7phJpeXYAAGeEX.jpg
Is this some cosmetic surgery magazine or something?
