y'all need to read the article
Users can expect the new Music app to offer some of the same functionalities that iTunes currently does — such as purchasing songs and syncing phones — just with a sleeker interface that’s free of the outdated and oft-bemoaned features of the heritage product, and more closely bundled with streaming service Apple Music.
I did read the article thank you very much, but when's this new app coming out? I don't know, so maybe I should sort out moving my shit to another music player in the meantime.
Probably not. It's Apple. They're gonna replace it with more proprietary bullshit.
We'll see about that. Don't get me wrong, I have little love for Apple, but they've been slowly opening to wider standards in recent years instead of keeping everything proprietary. The latest iPad Pro even finally ditches the Lightning connector for USB-C.
Dead serious, I loved the Zune and its software. It was so clean and easy to use.
I...I'm exactly that guy they were poking fun of in Guardians of the Galaxy 2
Wow, suddenly an iPhone is 1% more attractive now.
Same. The Zune Desktop app is unironically a well-designed and performant music management software.
It doesn't screw with your file metadata unless you specifically tell it to, and even then, if it has problems, it will ask you what to do rather than chewing up your library like iTunes will.
And that beautiful Now Playing screen...

None of this has even been announced yet, they're announcing it on Monday and then we will have a clearer idea of what's going on
It would be nice if they'd let you plug into Windows and drag-drop MP3 files over like you can with android phones. I won't hold my breath on it but, heh, this is one case where I'd like to be wrong about it.
The zune HD was the best music player ever made, it legitimately makes me upset whenever people shat on it. And then they same with the windows phone, it was the greatest thing with zero fucking support.
So I like to use my old iPhone 4s as a music player, when I inevitably have to hook it up to my PC to defuckulate it, what am I supposed to do?
downgrade to iOS 6
jailbreak and use a better music manager
It was pretty good before ~ver10. After that they segregated the media categories and made it harder to navigate between them, in addition to getting way bloated and generally slower.
Don't count on it. Apple left QuickTime for Windows out to dry for so long it became a major security issue. What did they do? Tell people not to use it while keeping the download links up.
I mean, it's not like much else does either...
Fine, treat
I've found my people. I have the Fiio X1 now which does the job (and most importantly has actual, physical buttons) but man, it just isn't the same. It also doesn't have bluetooth support so back to the fuckin' AUX jack I go if I want to use it in the car.
Ah well, hopefully someone, if not Apple comes out with some better alternatives in the future.
tbh I miss my old Sansa Fuse

as did some iPods. The nano had it before they killed that off.
There was a movie my dad wanted to watch, I had a file of it on my computer, he wanted it on his ipad
Trying to transfer it over was the biggest SHIT i've ever dealt with
One of the biggest reasons why I much much prefer Android, it's piss easy to just click and drag
so what'll happen to my playlists and where can i get my iphone backups then
I don't get it, iTunes is amazing if you've got your music library on your local machine. At least as long as you're not running Windows
I just got a new iPhone 8 and it has a "files" app which lets you... do exactly this.
That's what Taylor Swift gets for her exclusivity!
Official details were announced today
Nothing is changing on Windows, iTunes will still be the same, this whole thing is Mac-only
In the next version of MacOS, iTunes will be replaced by Apple Music, Apple Podcasts and Apple TV. Syncing iPhones will now happen in the Finder
Old purchases and libraries will carry over, the store will have all the same shit just in a new app
Also same. I have the original fat Zune somewhere and it still works like a charm even after dropping it several times. Thing was tough and served me well.
So apple have a team that maintain itunes just for windows?
that sounds absolutely hilarious
I mean I'm pretty sure Foobar2000 has a Ipod manager plugin/component
and if you like you could probably make it look like iTunes since there's plenty of skins people have created
heck wouldn't be surprised if there was a podcast component t get podcasts working on it somehow
But I feel Itunes being annoying with metadata and tags and all the annoying updates and for some reason making 2 copies of every mp3 file I had is what eventually got me to switch to android and then a stand alone music player that's basically what I always wanted the Ipod Nano to be.....
Basically while its sad its gone I guess while also good riddance cause there's better
I have an Iphone but haven't had iTunes installed on for years, it's so annoying
