Because he is trying to put guilt on me for things I have not done. I will act from a place of compassion but not wrongly placed guilt.
The society we live in that we benefit from and they are negatively affected by was created by those who stole their land. So as the ones with more societal power, it's our responsibility to make things better. You don't have to feel guilty about it, just don't pretend it's not there
How do we do that?
Changing mindset on colonialism and it's affects today, voting in representatives who respect first nations people, and supporting bills/ laws that do as well
I'm not pretending it's not there, nobody is pretending it's not there.
I'm saying lumping everybody in a category of aggressor when you've had nothing to do with it other than benefit from it is stupid.
