I am.
There are a ton of supporting roles in every single franchise. The vast majority of them never get major parts because, well, they're supporting members and not the main cast. The fact of the matter is that in the movies, he's just not a large character and to expect that he was going to get a bigger role is just, well, unreasonable. What about all the other supporting cast members that never got bigger roles?
We're not really talking about them because the article is about him however, and honestly I'm of the opinion that side characters are almost comically under utilized. And no you're not. Your first post wasn't heart felt; it was down right mean.
k
Nah I dropped it at season 2 lol, but whatever makes you feel better
your loss dude honestly
Before the childish comments after Mio's first questioning I was gonna come to defense replying on your behalf saying maybe they didn't stick with the slow first season, but stopping just before season 3 ouch
that's literally the most noticeable raise of "each season becoming way better than the last" that the show has
literally all four of these posters have probably never actually watched the original Star Wars series. I haven't seen it in over a decade and I remember Ackbar being very important, albeit not a central character. He was like Nien Nunb-- not THE key character but clearly pretty much integral to the original vision and plot of the movie.
I'd argue moreso than Nien Nunb, although both make appearances in TFA.
Nunb survives Crait though.
Looking at the three movies in a bubble, Akabar wasn't that important. You could cut him from the films and you woulden't lose a great deal of the experiance.
But why would you want to? He's great!
No, the big reason why people remember the Admiral is because of Meme Magic. Meme Magic that you even see to this day with effeminate guys being called traps or whatever. "It's a trap!" really is the character's legacy. Nobody remembers him first hand as the guy who leads the mon-calamari weird ass looking battlecruisers, they remember him as that octopus looking guy who yelled that phrase which the internet would make into memes decades later
I mean, in the new trilogy related media. He got loads of representation in media before that of course, sorry.
Did the actor have any speaking part in media that was not the actual movies?
Well, the guy in the article wasn't the voice, but the puppeteer. It was always voiced by someone else

what the fuck is the radio drama? I recognize basically everything there but that
Lol no, sorry I'm older than 12.
I watched this movie before we had the internet in the early 90's. I knew him from there, and recognized him from there. As a kid who loved Star Wars, I know that I knew that character before "meme magic".
What do you think kids from the 80's and earlier just didn't know a character from their favourite child hood movies was?
Speak for yourself dude
I'm at a point with TLJ where I hate every single thing about every scene throughout the entire film. I can't think of a single element of the film that gives any remote sense of satisfaction as a fan of star wars or movies in general. It feels like it was written with the specific intent to shit on everything star wars has been building.
He did a lot for the narrow marine biologist furry demographic though. It wasn't just due to memes.
Even given the minor status of the character, I can understand his frustration. They brought him back entirely for the sake of having an iconic character there, and then killed him off almost immediately. Why even bother bringing the guy back at all if you're just going to toss the character out the window in the first place.
Yeah, he's only popular because of a meme, but give the guy a little dignity.

Cunts. reminds me of how people act when I bring up how fucked up Jake Lloyd is after everything, except in this case it’s a cherished performance
