x-warriors x-squad i'm not really all that bothered by it but if they really wanna rename the ip it's not really that hard to come up with a generic and 'inclusive' name
XXX Menaction
X-gon give it to ya
I believe we can solve all problems with "Your Batness" and "Their Batness"
Egs-men :---DDDD
i always thought that "men" is like a short for humen.
Reminds me of an old George Carlin bit where he talks about this kind of thing, and while he agrees that inclusivity being represented in our vocabulary is a fine goal (like having words like chairperson over chairman to not make it such a defined role), things like this are going too far and it makes us fearful of language. Changing the name of the X-Men in an effort to be progressive is actually regressive, especially considering how the group has largely been a symbol for progressivism.
"Humen" isn't a word though.
X-hummus
thats what happen when english isnt your first language. thinking that man = one and men = many will also work with human and humen
When a corporation wants to rebrand something for not being inclusive, you can bet it isn't the actual reason. I'm betting they want to change the name to something else because of the negative connotation the Fox films have brought. Corporations only do things like this when profit can be made, never assume they do something like this for the sake of the collective good.
the whole english language is a load of bullshit
Most people know fuck all about the modern world by choice so what makes you think they'd even give history a thought?
The english language is a german, greek and french duck hiding in a trench coat pretending to be a language.
Then who did John Freeman save?
iirc i think the original male term was "Wer", which is where the word "Werewolf" comes from.
It's more I wish they would.
