Ah well, 13 (14 in total but not with this account) years were quite a time. No idea what's coming next and I don'r think anythingis going to feel like fp again, these kind of communities just don't work and exist anymore, reddit and other social media have replaced the old fashioned forums.

I went from a snot-nosed kid using a $400 (Dell?) computer that could barely play Garry's Mod at 13FPS and a snarky internet troll to a job-holding, house-owning dude working on marrying his boyfriendo. What a wild ride.

Newpunch was fucking terrible. And now that it finally was updated enough to be bearable you go and kill it, good job.
Garry is a twat. I wish nothing against him as a person; but I hope he is a case study in what not-to-do with a community.
Some of the OG moderators here were legitimately shitty people and I'm glad that the ones I recall aren't on Knockout afaik.
I'm going to miss this place. I met some really great people here. Actual normal forums still hold a special place to me in a world of anonymized circle-jerkery and shitty social data farms. There wasn't some obnoxious in-culture as a barricade, and there have been some really great memories along the way.

Well I rarely ever post, but it's been fun everyone! I've been around for 12 years. A lot has happened in that time, a lot of weird instances of Facepunch. I might try Knockout, as I need my idling site. A site I can call home that I can just read, be informed, have some laughs, and be friendly. It's the end of an era. I'll see you all soon!

Damn, would've been 10 years for me in August. Like a bunch of others, the stuff I got up to here shaped my career. I joined when I was just under 13, and I just interviewed for my first post-grad salaried job today.

Reddit is alright once you subscribe to enough small subreddits of your interests. It sorely lacks the sense of community that Facepunch has, but it is a good timewaster if that's what you're looking for. "Core" reddit sucks major ass though, like honestly one of the worst userbases on the entire internet; just not smart, original, or funny.

Garry's been talking of killing the forums for ages now, so a few members put together knockout as a way to preserve the community in the event of Garry suddenly killing the forums(as he is now doing). Totally independent of FP, to my knowledge
