The F-35 doesn't have a gun, does it? How will you have a dogfighting movie without guns?
*F-35 shoots down some shitty north korean Mig-15 from dozens of km away*
wow good kill!! that was a close one!!
It originally didn't have a gun. They were planning to make it up with a gun pod but apparently the F35A has an internal 25mm gun.
I also might be confusing it with the F-4.
Someone else will have a better response, I haven't been into jets for like 7 years
The A variant is the Airforce variant. It can't launch from a carrier.
The C variant is the largest and has the necessary reinforcement for carrier launches. It is the naval variant. It has no internal cannon, though could technically mount an external gun pod.

No guns and it has sphere boresight capabilities. It doesn't even need to look at a target to obtain a lock.

One variant of the F-35 has a gun, and the F-4 Phantom got retrofitted to have guns when Missiles alone just weren't cutting it I believe

this is doubly funny since they're probably going to be shooting shitty nork birds because the cold war is over and big films want the chinese market
Why not give it a twist and put them in Super Tucanos flying some covert operation in NK just so they can balance it out with the ancient Migs ans Sukhois.
With the whole Russia/WW3 fearmongering going on again, this would be a perfect moment to capture the spotlight.
Hopefully it makes a good choice of an artist to hire to make it's debut song (if that sort of thing is even possible these deays)
They left the door open to a potential sequel in the first one. In this scene.

Of course the natural course of action would be to have Maverick come out from retirement and do his thing, old school style.

Doesn't the movie end with [sp]Maverick saying he's gonna become an instructor[/sp]? So this is just about guaranteed unless they forgot the plot of the first movie.
EDIT: I spoilered it just in case but you should be ashamed if you're in this thread and haven't watched the first movie

I don't remember, I rewatched the movie last year... time for another yearly rewatch. :v:

Also, I miss the F-14 and F-16 so much. They are still the coolest fighter jets I've ever seen.
