• Cultural appropriation: Make it illegal worldwide, Indigenous advocates say

So someone has to tell the Japanese to stop eating curry now, since that was appropriated from the British who appropriated it from the Indians. It doesn't matter that it's become an iconic national dish in Japan because exchanges with other cultures lead to the evolution of cultures, nope, it's appropriated and therefore it should be illegal for the Japanese to make curry. Also Americans need to stop eating poutine, that's appropriating Canadian culture. And depending on who you talk to the rest of Canada is culturally appropriating poutine from Quebec too.
The entire concept of cultural appropriation is incoherent.
How about we focus on real issues?
they them some toys to play with to keep them distracted so they stop tryna get attention. This Cultural appropriation stuff is a load of bs. Unnatural, over zealous and not helpful in the slightest. People mix, cultures mix. Opposing that is silly.
Fuck anyone that wants to make the world a smaller place. Culture is for everyone, and it's not anybody's to lay claim to.
I can't help but feel this is related to that incident where that Canadian taco restaurant had to close shop because a bunch of angry lefties deemed it was culturally appropriating Mexican culture.
if its racist to enjoy mexican food, then consider me the grand wizard of the klu klux klan.
I agree that it's best that culture remains open and that people be free to implement aspects of other's cultures in their own, but I also think that goes for private culture. When you've got stuff like Disney successfully pushing for modifying copyright law so its shit doesn't fall into the public domain, I don't think it's that far fetched to enact some restrictions on using a group of people's name for products that aren't related to them. Just because this particular group of people is not a company doesn't mean they should have less rights.

Being of mixed heritage (Middle Eastern and Caucasian), does that mean I'm literal embodiment of cultural appropriation? I'm a monsteeerrrrrrr!!
