There's also the De facto Revolutionary anthem "Chester," but it has some fairly religious overtone and an entire stanza about how the British generals are scheming little bastards. [editline]9th November 2017[/editline]
Hymn of the Republic, if you were to change national anthem.
The problem with that is the religious overtones and the fact that the song was written with the apocalypse in mind because the civil war lead to a dramatic shift in American religion.

That's why I propose another one. Yankee Doodle.
if they're gonna be mad may as well give them a reason. make the anthem the bonnie blue flag

Trying to decide on whether this level nontroversy is higher or lower than when the NAACP got upset over a graduation card for yelling about black holes (misheard as "hoes").
We had the same thing in Sweden as one part in our national anthem says "Du tronar på minnen från fornstora da'r," which basically translates to " You sit on memories of the good ol days" and someone decided that it was racist because sweden had a tiny colony in the carribean for 4 years. Like the swedish empire that lasted for 100 years had nothing to do with that line at all.
At this point I'm willing to believe the NAACP is anti-american. Using an unsung, and for all intents and purposes deleted part of the anthem to try to kill the whole thing?
