• In Asia’s Fattest Country, Nutritionists Take Money From Food Giants

So, since the last time I met a Facepuncher since I arrived in Canada in Mid-September, I've lost about 15 kgs (33 lbs). Not only sugars and carbs, the fucking sodium content is a real hidden killer that not many talk about. One of the nicer things about moving to Canada is the sheer choice of products I have available, but looking at the nutritional content of the labels paints a very different story. A lot of the time, there are products that have seemingly reasonable calorie values, low fat, low carbs....and then, bam, 1100 mg of sodium for a decent serving. By contrast, adults are generally recommended to have around 2300 mg of sodium per day, so that one product has nearly half the amount of sodium you're allowed to have. That sodium ramps up blood pressure and also increases water retention, which also helps add to weight, while also putting a strain on your heart (which, if you're a fatty, is bad news bears).
Excuse me, has Nestlé sent you?
Literally everything he said is correct though? Sweetened tea is harmless- provided that sugar isn't adding additional calories to an already calorie-sufficient diet, and provided that nutritional needs are already being met. Axel's right that sugar, by its nature, makes it easier to fail those two conditions, but that means it's important to be aware of your diet if you're going to consume sugary foods, not that sugar is inherently harmful even in small amounts.
