Metal Gear Survive's Microtransactions, Requires Constant Internet Connection

The sad thing is that unless word of mouth and general opinion manages to really shut down on Konami, people are still gonna buy it up. There's probably still a lot of people that don't know that much about the Kojima incident.
I'm shocked
the fuck
so you're saying that there is at least one person on this earth that has actually had some interest in this steaming pile of shit that Konami has the fucking audacity to call a Metal Gear game?
Excuse me, no, it looked like an okay game. It was never a Metal Gear game, it was a game. And it looked okay, not good. Like something I might pick up after it went on sale. Doesn't look like that anymore.
I'll try the beta. If it's bad, then I'll gladly write it off. If it's ok, then I'll keep an eye on it at most. If it's good, then I'll give it a try on discount. If it's great, then I'll have to warn airlines that pigs will be competing for airspace.
Either way, should we really be surprised that big, ugly companies pull this "always online, microtransactions" crap? I'm honestly not even calling this a MGS game to save myself the aneurism.
trying to boycott a company because they did x thing that other companies have been doing, but still supporting said other companies, is a bit silly
review a game on its own merit, otherwise you'll be boycotting every single game because every single company has done something bad.
I dont think any "AAA" studio has learned a god damn thing from the backlash.
#FUCKONAMI
Why couldn't they re-release or port the older games?
Have you seen the Silent Hill HD Collection? They don't give a single fuck about anything they own.
Nevermind, I'm not interested in it anymore.
Same. It really sucks.

I don't think anyones boycotting this because of the Kojima debacle, which arguably no other company has done so blatantly.
People are boycotting this game because it looks like shit. The whole basis of the game has been completely played out for 10 god damn years now. That would be fine if it was bringing anything new to the table, but its not. Its riddled with microtransactions, and you can argue that a lot of people are unified in boycotting a lot of companies over microtransactions.

Oh my god don't get me started on the HD collection. The guy behind it still thinks he's some sort of Silent Hill expert despite not knowing basic things
the microtransactions will probably be useless like TPP's microtransactions, im still gonna try the game.

The only redeeming quality about MGS V was its gameplay. This is more of that, and I'm fine with it. It's not even full priced.
people have gotta stop having this attitude towards these microtransaction infested trash games tbh. the exact same thing happened with the whole shadow of war drama. you had people echoing very similar statements to this: "whatever, the game is fun, who cares about microtransactions just dont buy them".
the whole 'vote with your wallets' thing only works if you don't buy the game. simply ignoring the microtransactions in games you continue to buy isn't enough. if you want microtransactions to stop, you need to stop buying the games themselves.
this has very little to do with you two in particular because idk how you even feel towards the microtransactions plague in the games industry but as someone who honestly wants it to stop i don't get the people who still indulge in those games.

have you read the rest of this thread? several people in here are doing just that, boycotting not because the game looks bad, but because of ~moral principles~ while they go around and buy games from other companies that do the same things.

I've heard very good things about Bomberman R. They even patched it when the game ran like shit.

Well for one you're assuminf they're buying other games, and secondly Facepunch is not a hive mind, nor a representation of anything.
The gamers that give a fuck about Kojima are a minority.
who asked for this game

It looked like a fun game that just rode on the MG name to get sales, I was going to try it out and I still might since I remember it being announced that it'll be like £20 or some shit so itll be a bit of mindless fun for a while.
Good god. Video game consumers will ask Publishers to shit in their mouth, and then gladly pay for the "bits of corn" dlc.
Why do people enjoy being fucked over??
Doesn't really work when nobody really wanted the game in the first place. It was one of those "eh, maybe I'll pick it up on sale" games already, it's got no chance if they're shoving microtransaction practices into it too.
[editline]a[/editline]
Personally, I can't wait for it to go free with PlayStation Plus. They've already given out GZ and TPP so I'm sure this'll be no different.
Oh my god don't get me started on the HD collection. The guy behind it still thinks he's some sort of Silent Hill expert despite not knowing basic things
You mean the guy who tried to re-write Silent Hill 2 despite claiming to be it's biggest fan?
Have you seen the Silent Hill HD Collection? They don't give a single fuck about anything they own.
The PS3/360 MGS Collection was good. Bluepoint does great (not perfect but still very good) ports.
Silent Hill Collection was handled by Hijinx Studios, a company that only made mobile games and had no experience whatsoever with this type of stuff. It doesn't excuse Konami handing it to them when they had great results with Bluepoint.

that wasn't the major problem with the silent hill hd collection.
the source files were lost so they had to use the unfinished beta code.

don't bluepoint reverse engineer retail copies of their HD games though?
don't bluepoint reverse engineer retail copies of their HD games though?
Yup. That's how they know it's got everything the retail copy does.

That really shouldn't of changed the textures and some of the sounds though
Even more reason to of gotten BP to do the ports, since they just reverse engineer the games to get all the assets they can (since they can't be sure the source they're given is the same as the release version). Might of still been a buggy mess but at least the atmosphere would of stayed the same which was one of the main problems. I think the ports would of been much more forgivable if the visuals and sounds stayed identical.
It's damn shame the FOX engine and the gameplay mechanics of MGSV are being wasted on a zombie survival horde shooter.
Hey, they're not only using the FOX engine on a zombie horde shooter . . . .

they're also using it to tear at the hearts of MGS3 fans by meticulously recreating scenes just for gambling.
That still fucking infuriates me so much.
Was that even confirmed to be the Fox Engine?
Was that even confirmed to be the Fox Engine?
Unless you're willing to break into Konami's Pachinko mines, I don't think we'll ever know if they're telling the truth.
Nobody should have been interested in this piece of shit in the first place. After everything Konami has done to prove that they are completely fucked, people are still like "oh i'll give this one a try maybe it'll be good.
NO. Just ignore this shit publisher and move on.
The fact that people ever even considered buying this thing baffles me to no end.
And no one is surprised at all
I'm a little surprised. I knew it would be garbage and they somehow made it even worse.
That's talent.
also the mgs hd collection actually did have some issues, they just werent as awful as the silent hill ones
specifically, the tanker chapter in mgs2 had a toooon of missing effects that are p much still only on the ps2 version to this day
I think the difference here is that the missing effects aren't something anyone not intimately familiar with the original or having it on fresh memory would notice were absent. They enhanced bits, including the razor gag where getting the item results in Snake shaving his facial hair in the endgame which is absent in the HD version, but them being missing doesn't necessarily break anything. Compared to Silent Hill HD, where the fog got fucked, the textures got fucked, the sound got fucked, Silent Hill apparently writes comic sans on their billboards, and all sorts of other problems that are just flagrantly in your face and screaming at you.
