Hey, they're not only using the FOX engine on a zombie horde shooter . . . . they're also using it to tear at the hearts of MGS3 fans by meticulously recreating scenes just for gambling.
those are all pre-rendered, not real-time
From what I remember wasn't this going to be a co-op zombie horde game with character customisation? Lol, I might have been one of 10 people that would have picked this game up, because uninspired as the premise is, that sounds like something I might have been interested in. gg screwing that up by putting micro-transactions in it Konami.
I think the difference here is that the missing effects aren't something anyone not intimately familiar with the original or having it on fresh memory would notice were absent. They enhanced bits, including the razor gag where getting the item results in Snake shaving his facial hair in the endgame which is absent in the HD version, but them being missing doesn't necessarily break anything. Compared to Silent Hill HD, where the fog got fucked, the textures got fucked, the sound got fucked, Silent Hill apparently writes comic sans on their billboards, and all sorts of other problems that are just flagrantly in your face and screaming at you.
https://www.reddit.com/r/silenthill/comments/7pxjtw/these_guys_need_to_remaster_silent_hill_2_and_3/dsmn8sm/?st=jck8x5t4&sh=302558d4 I wrote down all the ones I noticed a while ago oddly enough. I've played the games start to finish multiple times on multiple difficulties, and fucked around with the game's mechanics a ton, so even simple stuff like coolant fogging up mirrors I noticed.
#FUCKONAMI Why couldn't they re-release or port the older games? FFS what were they thinking? Sadly once this self-destructs upon release, they'll just abandon the series like Silent Hill, Contra, and Castlevania. I really, REALLY wanted to play SOTN but I guess it won't ever be coming to PC now. Fuck you, Konami.
They sorta ported MGS3 to Nvidia Shield I think? [editline]18th January 2018[/editline]
Oh my god don't get me started on the HD collection. The guy behind it still thinks he's some sort of Silent Hill expert despite not knowing basic things

You mean the guy who tried to re-write Silent Hill 2 despite claiming to be it's biggest fan?
Please tell me more about this, I'm not versed in the hijinks that involved the HD Collection and who was behind it.
iirc nvidia gets their own team to port stuff to the shield, they just have to get the rights to do it
Maybe one day someone dedicated would get the rights and port the HD collection to PC

People that played it said it's a really fun game to play, might buy it.
Konami really wants us to hate Kojima's baby, don't they?
Ah, a concrete reason for me to never play it, not like I was going to anyway.
Game is so boring I just tried the beta it’s literally fortnite without personality
trying to boycott a company because they did x thing that other companies have been doing, but still supporting said other companies, is a bit silly review a game on its own merit, otherwise you'll be boycotting every single game because every single company has done something bad.
the game having microtransactions and requiring an internet connection to play even in singleplayer are parts of the game, saying these are shit things is reviewing the game on its own merit
It's not even full priced.
It's a fucking F2P game that you have to buy.
the whole 'vote with your wallets' thing only works if you don't buy the game. simply ignoring the microtransactions in games you continue to buy isn't enough.
It absolutely is, unless you think the legions of market and sales analysts employed by publishers don't notice when a game sells but its microtransactions don't. If the presence of microtransactions negatively impacts the core game, seriously don't buy the game. But if the microtransactions are easily ignored and don't do anything significant, you are absolutely sending a message to the publisher if you buy the game and then refuse to buy any additional content. They spent money on implementing that feature and continue to spend money on hosting and managing those transactions. If they don't produce any revenue, a company as profit-driven as Konami won't keep them. It is extremely obvious to them when the game sells but the microtransactions don't. It sends a clearer message to their bottom line than simply not buying the game at all, which they can attribute to a multitude of reasons that have nothing to do with the presence of microtransactions. All that said, I expect this game is going to suck and this is going to be a complete non-issue.
Gee wiliker! A zombie shooter game with micro transactions?! what an original concept that strives to innovate where no other company has.
if you guys honestly want to torture yourself by playing this pile of trash, just channel your inner Jack Sparrow or wait till it shows up on PS+ free games very soon after release or try the free beta (i'm extremely surprised that it's free tbh) Konami does not deserve a single fucking cent for all their evil deeds
I feel so bad for the people who have to work on this turd. Especialy with how Konami treats employees who want to leave the company and have a career somewhere else. Working conditions are inhuman almost everywhere in the japanese video game industry but at least with Kojima they got to work on something greater.
So yeah, i know this will annoy people but i kinda like it so far...? Im still conflicted, but i do like some of the ideas it has.
I like the game, I think it's funny I've seen so many that are pleasantly surprised. It's MGSV co-op like everyone wanted.
So I've played the beta a fair bit this weekend and honestly. It's fine. Nothing special or even good. Just fine. A solid well built action game hampered by truly bizarre crafting and a shockingly bad UI. Biggest problem with it is I am already bored....It's literally just hold this position for 10 minutes against pre determined enemy routes. It's tower defence. They want 50 quid for tower defence.
I dont think any "AAA" studio has learned a god damn thing from the backlash.
What is there to learn? A couple weeks of bad PR and then you watch the money roll in. Its great that there's been such a backlash but developers will keep using micro-transactions because they still make them money.
I dont think any "AAA" studio has learned a god damn thing from the backlash.
Sure they did. They learned that no matter how bad the backlash is, microtransactions still print gold.
Sure they did. They learned that no matter how bad the backlash is, microtransactions still print gold.
Eh, didn't Battlefront 2 sell pretty bad compared to what they expected? Plus it gives the company and game series a bad image when the first thing you think of when you see it is "microtransaction trash."
I initially wasn't a big fan of the beta, but as I leveled up and unlocked more things, I really started enjoying it. It's great fun with friends. I had more fun just fucking around in the pregame lobby tbh.
Keep in mind there's also more than a few (not entirely verifiable) indications that Konami receives payoffs from the Yakuza due to their production of well-selling Pachinko machines, so buying a modern Konami game may aid that. I can't find a concrete source on it so take it with a grain of salt, and personally I'm not saying "theres blud on ur hands if u buy mg:s" I just figure people should be aware.
in general, most people should be aware that most major japanese gamedevs, if not all, are involved with the yakuza
Is this why I can't play the game of the same name on PC yet

Any idea if this game will be open world? That's the thing I found disappointing most about Fortnite, its a small map and you launch missions instead of just roaming
