Trump and his rhetoric is to blame for empowering these kinds of fucking degenerates.
Can we not have the fucking political vulture shit? If you want to blame Trump for every deranged pshychopath go do it in Polidick.
Lol, mentally ill people aren't exactly going to be paragons of judgment when it comes to their actions. They no longer have a sense of right or wrong, unless their mental illness itself shows a lucid interval. If a crime is committed during a lucid interval, only then is a mentally ill person responsible for their actions. [editline]27th May 2017[/editline] In fairness, Trump himself has hardly been charitable to Muslims and has openly called for them to, among other things, wear identifying symbols. Then there was that monumentally stupid statement where he said "you know maybe we should kill the terrorists, and their families too" like that's going to endear him any more to those against that form of rhetoric. I'm also aware that Islamophobia has seen an uptick after 9/11 in general, but that doesn't also mean that Trump himself is casually adding more fuel to a blazing fire, when he should be setting an example by not inflaming tensions some more. But getting in with his vote bank, particularly the avowed xenophobes and racists/bigots, seems to be more important to him, and his administration's members, than communal harmony. You also can't deny that there has been an upswing in racially motivated attacks, as well as attacks motivated by bigotry, during and after the election of Donald Trump as President. So far he has done very little to address these or, I might add, condemn them. And until he does, his silence may as well be taken for tacit support by those perpetrating these attacks, or those who see his election as validating their twisted views, combining it with his rhetoric for "America for Americans only".
Corellation =/= Causation. Just look at the increase of terrorist attacks where the political ideology was identified as islamic extremism in the last 5 years. The upswing didn't just suddenly increase when Trump became president. It is a reaction to all these attacks.

And if he does, I just think that there's more at play here than just a mental disorder.
Oh right, we should expect mentally ill hobos to act like rational and tolerant people.
Again we have no way of knowing at this point whether he is mentally ill

Dude obviously had some screws loose.

It was this act that sparked the first moment of chaos at the "free speech" rally on April 29 in Montavilla Park, which then proceeded down 82nd Avenue, a miserable replacement for a neighborhood parade canceled due to the threat of political violence. The man in the flag cape was quickly swarmed by scrawny young antifa kids, then by officers from the Portland Police Bureau. After the scrum dispersed, I stood by watching while police searched his backpack. They seemed to know that, prior to the march, he had posted a Facebook message threatening to "shoot to kill POLICE if they ATTEMPT DISARM" anyone openly carrying a firearm to the rally. "Any guns in there?" an officer asked. "Just comic books," he said. He was a big fan. "I think that guy is mentally ill," one of the officers confided. Almost certainly. But Jeremy Joseph Christian, 35, who was arrested yesterday on suspicion of killing two men who tried to protect two dark-skinned women wearing hijabs from his racist abuse, is also a notorious racist from North Portland who networked with other racists when he wasn't doing time (and, presumably, when he was).
SPLC source
A review of Christian's Facebook page shows an individual all over the political spectrum but indicates that he holds some racist and other extremist beliefs. In an April 9 post, he wrote, “I just Challenged Ben Ferencz(Last Living Nuremberg Persecutor) to a Debate in the Hague with Putin as our judge. I will defend the Nazis and he will defend the AshkeNAZIs [a reference to European Jews].” This past April 19, the anniversary of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, Christian praised Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh writing, “May all the Gods Bless Timothy McVeigh a TRUE PATRIOT!!!” In February 2016 he wrote, “I'm sure most of you don't remember but the American Nazi Party was taking care of a stretch of highway in Oregon about 10 years ago until ODOT took down their sign. Apparently Nazis don't have the freedom to exercise their civic duties in this State. Why? Because we live in a Fascist Police State run By "Liberal" "Multicultural" NAZIS!!!”

Trump and his rhetoric is to blame for empowering these kinds of fucking degenerates.
There's such a double standard it's not even funny anymore. A white guy who freaks out on a bus and murders 2 people: it's trumps fault, we don't know if he's mentally ill or not but let's assume he's just a fucking degenerate trump supporter. Muslim guy blows himself up: Not all muslims okay guys. Only very few muslims do this kind of thing. He probably had a mental illness or a troubled childhood. Actually it's trumps fault for making them mad. I hope white trump supporters don't try to get revenge!

Trump is one person
"Apparently Nazis don't have the freedom to exercise their civic duties in this State. Why? Kinda weird to subsequently turn around and call those you oppose Nazis...
There's such a double standard it's not even funny anymore. I hope white trump supporters don't try to get revenge!
While I disagree with the notion that it is "solely" trumps fault that these incidents are becoming more common, one cannot argue that he did not partake in the fear mongering himself, and such an influential figure certainly bears some responsibility for their supporters. Trump multiple times has said "Islam is the enemy of the west" or stuff like that. The question is "Did these incidents become more common because Trump and his movement "normalized" them, or are they just being reported more often?" But thats another topic. Even so, your comparison holds no water. Blaming trump, or any individual for their own actions, is fine. Everyone is accountable for what they themselves do. You cannot compare accusing an individual with accusing a whole group. "Muslim guy blows himself up: Not all muslims okay guys. Only very few muslims do this kind of thing." Yes, thats how it works. Statistically, only a tiny percentage commit terror acts. If I said "Some black people are in jail, black people in general are thugs," you would call me a racist jerk and rightfully so. Everyone is accountable for their own actions. If Rifleman instead said
Republicans are to blame for empowering these kinds of fucking degenerates.
then your comparison would make more sense, because then he would be assuming that every republican was a racist and violent jerk, when that is obviously not true
There's such a double standard it's not even funny anymore. A white guy who freaks out on a bus and murders 2 people: Not all Nationalist White Supremacists okay guys. Muslim guy blows himself up: it's Islam'ss fault, we don't know if he's mentally ill or not but let's assume he's just a fucking degenerate Muslim.
When trying to make a point, it's worth the effort to use an example that can't immediately be reversed and automatically be more valid than the stupid scenario you pulled out of your ass.
"Muslim guy blows himself up: Not all muslims okay guys. Only very few muslims do this kind of thing." As opposed to Trump who is fairly clearly Islamophobic.
Yeah, just like Islam is to blame for empowering terrorists to kill civilians. Or how videogames lead to youth violence. Blame the perpetrator.
Except Islam is known to be a peaceful religion, and the people in general be pleasant, and video games are an escape from reality. Donald Trump is a politician, a president, and a leader of people. He holds responsibility for being one of the biggest role models for America. So, yes, we can absolutely blame him for getting up on podiums, saying such things, and giving these kinds of people the encouragement that they're just.
Trump and his rhetoric is to blame for empowering these kinds of fucking degenerates.
these people have always existed. there is a long list of attacks like this, people have been doing this shit much longer than trump has been president. trump is a symptom of the problem more than anything. instead of blaming trump for everything i think we should just admit that xenophobia is still alive and strong and look for solutions instead of blaming trump.
While it is obvious xenophobia and racism has been in the States (and everywhere else) for a long time and Trump hasn't caused it, he has certainly stoked the flames of it and used it as a weapon to drum up support for himself. He uses it as a way of distraction and a way of putting problems on him. He has certainly empowered individuals with the same or worse views than himself as he is now in a position of power and has not moderated what he's saying (like what some were claiming... who also claimed he was honest... despite also explaining everything he said). You obviously can't blame Trump for the attack - but you can say his election has emboldened and empowered individuals such as this one present in the article.
"You guys are criminals" said the man, committing a double homicide
these people have always existed. there is a long list of attacks like this, people have been doing this shit much longer than trump has been president. trump is a symptom of the problem more than anything. instead of blaming trump for everything i think we should just admit that xenophobia is still alive and strong and look for solutions instead of blaming trump.
I think the point is that Trump is making xenophobes feel empowered. Not that he's the cause of xenophobia itself. And that's a pretty valid point because significant portions of his presidential campaign were centered around xenophobic policies. Since he got into office the people who hold those views feel much more validated than if someone else had been elected.

The irony, him calling them criminals then proceeds to kill two people right in front of them what the fuck.

Guy's just a batshit racist asshole. [editline]p[/editline] disagree all you want, but he obviously doesn't like Trump. Can't really have your views supplemented by someone whom you don't subscribe to. He's an ultra-nationalist/racist who supports Bernie Sanders, so he's just an insane weirdo. Trump's got nothing to do with this.
Well, there goes the "influenced by Trump's rhetoric" theory. Guy's just a batshit racist asshole.
clearly it's still trump's fault because he won the presidency and bernie didn't :v:

And as a then-recently semi-mature progressive person who did risk voting her in the national election last year, this guy is way worse than CWC voted for Hillary with making literal death threats on Trump and a bloody joke for having syncretic beliefs in first place for doing this. And also again for a third time for saying this.
Lmao guy doesnt even like Trump. Good job jerking off on that Trump hate guys
