Stranger Things star Charlie Heaton deported from US after 'cocaine bust'

1 or a couple uses of coke isnt gonna turn you into a tweaking psychopath with a strong affinity for jumping out of the 30 story window. The truth is most drugs, especially the ones that are made out to be addictive by shitty dare propaganda can be more than manageable in moderation. Society has a very unhealthy and unnecessary stigma around drugs that needs to stop
Cocaine consumers are driving the market and the violence, death, and poverty that comes with it. The war on drugs doesn't help either, but saying taking some coke isn't a big deal is idiotic.
What kind of violence, death, or poverty would be necessary if it was a legally regulated with controlled and safer forms instead of a black market drug cut with shit and not formulated specifically for safety?

Was under the impression that cocaine is extremely bad for you regardless of all that "black market shit" mixed into it

It is.
Any high dose of stimulant is both addictive and damaging, especially over long-term use. Addiction leads to long term use (wow who new).
It's like overclocking your brain and vascular system, except also super addictive.

It's not, I may or may not have snorted it like 10 times in my life and it is unusually calm, feeling almost nothing every time, and holywood has hyped it to hell. Adderall is a much, much more dangerous and scary drug comparably.

I don't know how you can describe it as calm or feeling almost nothing. Sounds like you got ripped off. Coke IS addicting and destructive. Maybe you did it over a longer span of time.
Kids don't do it!
Noss isn't saying that cocaine is no big deal to promote it, or deny its harmful effects. Literally all he's getting at is that you don't have to be an addict/in a downward spiral to use it

totally, you can use almost all recreational drugs responsibly. this is a mentality that absolutely needs to be more widespread, for the good of everyone involved.
BIG update on this story, charlie has been cleared of the charges and has tested clean for cocaine use.
Family of the actor, who plays Jonathan Byers in the Netflix supernatural drama series, say he has never done drugs in the past and was not under the influence at the time he was stopped at LA airport.
Heaton has since undergone tests, including a hair and urine sample, which have come back all clear, according to his family.
His sister Kaayleigh Heaton, 32, added: 'It could have come from anywhere.
'He wasn't carrying drugs, he wasn't high. He's had tests and they have come back clear.
'He not got it in his system or anything. He was at a party two weeks before and obviously when you're at a party anything can happen.
'You leave your things on the side when you're having a drink. It could be that he was at a shop, it be on a note.
It's basic economics. The same way scientists say one of the best things an individual could do for the environment is change their diet. I also acknowledge that the war on drugs have an impact as well (way more impact, but still doesn't take away from the consumers contribution), which is a lot more nuanced than your PETA argument.
Only reason? Not likely. But it's definitely a major reason. You're right if it was regulated it would give consumers a safer and likely more ethical option.
It's literally the only reason, though. Tobacco is similarly addictive on a physical level, yet we don't seem to have many tobacco cartels shuffling vaporizer e-juice across the border and killing their competitors to boost their share of the tobacco black market.
Cocaine is bad for you, as an individual. So is smoking cigarettes. One is prohibited, the other isn't. One is tied to violent crime rings to get it to users, the other is... bought by 18-year-olds and pawned to high schoolers? The war on drugs is the only reason the cocaine trade is deadly.

Yeah but it'd probably be possible for legally sanctioned chemists to produce drugs similar to cocaine with less side effects and since these chemists would have a mission to lessen harm and addiction there would be every expectation it would at least be safer than it is in a black market

Well, it sucks that he had to miss the premiere. I'd be frustrated if that happened to me

I take prescribed adderall/vyvanse which is known to give a very similar effect, and after a long break my first dose feels like I have a live wire embedded in my sternum giving me more energy than I can handle.
What are you talking about?

This.
It's possible to use an incredibly addictive substance in moderation and not suffer from addiction, as long as you don't lean on it as a crutch.
