Oh noo muh ISP forced to go with time and upgrade it's network :'( Seriously, how much some of you US citizens pay for Internet, ISPs could upgrade their whole network every month.
In what way made you think I was siding with ISPs? I was just clarifying that congestion has something to do with data caps. I'm from Australia and I'm well aware of the shitshow the ISPs are here. We're averagely still on fucking 30/1 caps on good days and NBN, the savior of the australian network, is taking it's sweet ass time to roll out. With the amount that Optus/Telstra/Whatver makes, they could roll out NBN within a year.
Yeah I'm not seeing the fuss about this. If somebody with more know-how into why this is a bad thing for the consumer please speak up cause it just seems to be folk taking the piss out of AT&T for being AT&T.
It makes services like Spotify and Netflix unable to compete with providers own services. And seeing as in the US, a lot of people have only one internet provider available. You are stuck with whatever their offering, or pay out of your ass to get stuff that isnt your provider's own service. In the end this severely reduces user freedom, while making more money for providers. This is the reason the EU made Net neutrality a law a while back. Its better for the citizens, and by limiting freedom of your company's, you are actually increasing the freedom of your citizens.
