It's just funny how they're using print documents in that photo to update the site's layout. It's YouTube lol, get something digital :v:, this isn't 1993
all this talent, knowledge and money and they still can't bring back the autoplay feature for playlists they removed one day for no reason
It has its own dark mode. You can select it by using the drop down menu from your profile picture on the homepage.
I ain't finding it. Edit: Found it, had to enable the new desktop thing first. Which I could've sworn I had done before.

The real tragedy here is the circle avatars. Like, why.
The real tragedy here is the circle avatars. Like, why.
A plague that is slowly infecting all corners of the internet
Click your avatar in the top right and click "restore old youtube" to get the old design back
Noticed this this morning. I like the new look but the fact the video buttons are now on the very edge of my screen is annoying. I just find it sad yet hilarious on new design decisions by top firms alienating their consumers. Are we just resistant to change? Are we not looking at them coherently? Are we not seeing the true motives? Are we too simple to understand? Or the design simply take time to sink in? Or it is them who are at fault, change for the sake of change? Making the incorrect decisions? Seeing things from the wrong perspective?
The real tragedy here is the circle avatars. Like, why.
idk i personally love circle avatars. I acknowledge that they make avatars smaller and don't show the full picture, they look aesthetically pleasing with posts and to me capture self shot photos better
The old layout was objectively shit. Theatre mode for videos did fuck all if your screen was over 1080p, it was really bad.
And if your screen was too small, Theater mode did nothing but add black bars on the left and right.
The fact I have to add this in is fucking annoying.
It wouldn't even exist without your complaint earlier :v: You're right though, there's a whole lot of rough edges in the new design. I forgot to turn off my avatar squarer and sentiment bar width fix for the preview, probably should fix that...
idk i personally love circle avatars. I acknowledge that they make avatars smaller and don't show the full picture, they look aesthetically pleasing with posts and to me capture self shot photos better
I never get the circle avatar hate either, with modern web design moving towards less perceptible boundaries between things like YouTube's comments (eg no borders around comments), you need some decoration on avatars to make them flow better. It also makes it a lot easier for the eye to identify it as an avatar since it's shape is unique. Personally, YT with square avatars looks unfinished and even more clunky
This is a really bad shade of red to use on my monitor looks really sharp and bright and isn't very nice to look at.
idk i personally love circle avatars. I have a hard time even using Youtube without something like Magic Actions to add common sense features. Do wish they would stop with the "bright solid colors on pure searing white with 50% unused space" designs. It just reminds me of bad geocities sites.
Oh lol, you made it. Sorry about that.
Don't worry about it. I figured you weren't aware.
bro you're acting as if you've never had to print out a youtube video for class before
Is that 1 frame per page?
Hardly any difference, tbh. This must be the only update I'm not upset about :v
I love it, dark mode without having to use plugins? Big ass cinema mode. They are finally doing it right. Also you might need to remove old cookies if you still have them.
Where is it?
I thought my screen was fucked when I saw it for the first time. I was like "Has someone been fucking with my saturation options?". Nope, just youtube being youtube.
yeah well it cuts off the nose from my polar bear so circle avatars can go to hell
Circle avatars look great for portraits, like if you get a "Meet the Team" section on a website and it has each individual's picture with their name below. They're good for language flags as well. Apart from these things, they just end up cutting off content or forcing you to make your avatar circle-friendly. Probably the better thing to do, is just to have rounded corners, and then maybe make transparency an option so you can make your avatar round if you want to

It works here on Facepunch, but on e.g. Twitter I'm glad they have a backdrop.
I actually like that your profile picture in the top leads to "My channel" now. I thought it was beyond stupid before when clicking your profile picture before sent you to Google+ or some shit and had no link to your Youtube channel. Who thought that was a good idea for so long? Don't mind much else and I don't really care about the logo but man I really wish the video buttons weren't on the very side of the screen. I actually liked the more compact description and play options area, dunno about anyone else.

Excellent work google. Redo the logo while people are losing their income because of your terrible demonotization bots.
