Last I checked you can click the title of the playlist while watching a video in it to get to that page.
Yeah. But that's two clicks instead of one.
[del]Do we need more proof that YouTube is a dying service on a corporate leash?[/del]
I'm so fucking sick of it. All I wanted was for them to change the front page to subscription.

only amateurs would do full on red in a modern design :v:
it's like a high school graphic design project
That's clearly not full red though.
[editline]30th August 2017[/editline]
Also as someone who owns a number of websites: everyone complaining about the new design is going to prefer it within 2 months, and when shown the old version you will think it looks bad.
It happens every goddamn time. People just hate change.
I get that your design team needs to be doing something, but, uh, maybe you should have it save your settings, or have things in reasonable places,
or not look like shit
That's clearly not full red though.

I really don't care if it's full red or not, but the actual logo is full red.

But yeah, the old designs all look pretty shit now.
The frontpage 5 years ago:

A video page 6 years ago:

Remember video responses? Or that reactions feature?
[editline]30th August 2017[/editline]
I mean fuck, remember the 2013 design that was abysmal to use at anything larger than 720p because it had massive whitespace?
that's weird, 2.4:1 videos always fill out the whole player for me

I noticed the same issue as Brt had yesterday - looks like they fixed it at YouTube. It definitely fills the entire screen as much as possible now.
Youtube had its last change... what... about 6-7 years ago?
I've had my YouTube account since 2008 and there have been many changes since 2008-2017. Some subtle, some not. YouTube has definitely changed a lot since 2012, even if some of their changes were relatively subtle. Let's be honest though, YouTube is probably the epitome of the whole idea of changing looks any way the wind blows.
I like the more intense red but it feels like a mobile site now. Buttons are further apart, it's annoying. I have to set the page's zoom to 90% for it to be usable.

Yeah this isn't full red, it's e93f37.
It's full red in CMYK color. I'm not 100% sure how the conversions work, but if you drag it into photoshop it shows up as FF0000, but if you switch to CMYK mode the RGB value is closer to what it actually is.
Now I'm genuinely wondering if they fucked up or just pulling a fast one on the stupid idea police.
The problem is that that that's pretty much the only thing that looks good with them.
I can perhaps get youtube wanting using them for the comments, but on the uploader's picture and on channels, it should p. much be square.
Otherwise this redesign is pretty great, I've been using the dark mode beta for quite a long time. The only problem I have is the new logo at the top right, it's just too glaring.
But then you end up with a botched together design language that looks slick in some form factors and totally garbage on others, etc. And there's little worse than an inconsistent design language, just look at the shitshow that is the Windows UI for the past two decades or so (whenever the Fischer-Price XP UI was introduced).
They basically just removed the only quirk about their logo and made it an Impact font-lookalike
How fucking boring!
it's the same font as before
All the red colors on their site now burn my eyes.
I love it!
I just hate how big the text look.

I agree, I've actually had this design for several months for whatever reason. I didn't like it much at first, but after like a week or so I got used to it and now I prefer it over the old design. Plus the theater mode isn't excruciatingly small anymore.
Idk if anyone mentioned this but, I just noticed they made a permanent dark theme option. All you have to do is click on your channel avatar on the right and the option is there.
This makes up for the new layout for me honestly.
you never use a pure shade of color, even this text you are reading is not pure black.
Why? Is there like a textbook on this stuff I was supposed to read with like proof and shit?
It's nice that they added a dark theme as an option, and the option to revert back to the old layout.
Only real gripe with this update is that the brightness of the red colour is annoying, it sticks out like a sore thumb and is a general eyesore.
Also most of my installed YouTube addons don't work with the new update which is annoying, but they'll hopefully get updated.
I basically had to turn on the dark theme, because oh my god my fucking eyes.

I've always wondered what Facepunch would look like if it had a design overhaul to match modern design, but yeah the design hasn't changed much since at least 2009
Every single time YouTube has ever changed their format I fucking hated it but when Google or whoever bought them out they really ruined the design

Half the designers probably aren't even aware of the demonetization problem in the first place, and even if they were, it's not their business, not within their talents, and not their jurisdiction.
Clearly I'm talking about youtube as a whole and not specific divisions. I doubt the design team gets free reign over the medium and can change UI and logos as they please.
Its clearly a calculated move by the higher ups in YouTube/Google to drag attention away from more obvious problems. Theyre notorious for this.

dude this design has been in beta for months, since way before this demonetization problem
there is now literally a button now that let's you revert back to the older design now.
I just used it because I said it was "to clunky"
I have a hard time even using Youtube without something like Magic Actions to add common sense features.

:v:
Most websites now usually have a max-width to combat that, Facepunch just stretches to whatever width.
I've tried my best to recreate this as I don't have any actual screenshots.
With a 1440p Monitor, this is what the old youtube layout looked like. Theatre mode did not change the video size, it only moved it to the centre.
