Given that this game was created by Bioware's Montreal branch, whose only other major claim to fame is Mass Effect 3's multiplayer, I can kinda see this being true. Especially since it's entirely staffed by newbies and ME fans without any of the veteran devs from their other branches providing oversight. The game is essentially Mass Effect fanfiction made into a game. It's a giant amateur project with a AAA budget. I'm honestly shocked that EA and Bioware would put what is essentially their C-team on a project of this caliber. But I'm certainly not shocked at the end result.

Speaking about amateurs... I have just realised why ME1/2/3 face animations were better than ME:A's. FaceFX. It was intergrated into Unreal Engine and probably was used in previous games. It's an obvious choice for any dialog-heavy game to use some kind of an automated way of generating face animations. All they needed to do is buy a FaceFX license for this project (it can be used as a plugin for 3d animation package) and at least one of the problems would've been solved.

That doesn't explain the animations being worse than inquisition

It would, if the whole animation team has the same or less experience than the lead animator, who has very little.
Honestly, it's not because she's a woman, it's because she is just inexperienced/bad at her job.
How can you even be so mad that your "precious" vidya game didnt turn out the way you hoped, that you go and harass someone that worked on it? Disgusting/Pathetic really.

It's also not clear whether she's responsible anyway.
Man I made a joke about her on the other thread but this is just disgusting, I regret making that joke even. Nobody deserves to be harassed for dumb shit like these. What is wrong with these sorts of people. I hope her the best and wish I could reach out to her and tell her to keep at it.
To the people dismissing this as "oh, anyone who gets attention on the internet receives this kind of treatment":
Technically, you're right - the difference here is scale. There's a few other industries that come close to receiving the level of hatred that game developers do, like television and cinema - but when it comes to the sheer amount of directed anger and threats, game devs take the fucking gold. People really aren't overstating it when they talk about receiving days on end of constant phonecalls, emails and even letters with threats. When it comes to a scale like that most police departments don't even want to touch it because they can't possibly prosecute anywhere near that amount of people.
My parents have gotten mad at me for being "brainwashed" into being "misogynistic" because of these news stories. I am sure this is the case for many other kids (and adults sometimes) who are being generalized for this dumb shit just because we play videogames.
So, basically, what I am trying to say is - how dare you. How bloody well dare you. I'm never not gonna stick up for this hobby because I love videogames and want everybody who wants to enjoy them to enjoy them too. "It's just a hobby" I spent most of my LIFE on videogames because I had nothing else to do and nowhere else to turn. "It's just a hobby." Wow. Honestly, yeah, I am offended. I am very offended.

Going to reiterate, yeah this is horrible, this shouldn't have happened, but blaming everyone instead of the individuals who did it is just stupid. Games don't make you hate females.
what the fuck is this post

What about it?
video games are a hobby
but esports is a whole other discussion
I play video games more than basically anyone I know and I don't think it's such a core part of my identity that I get offended when someone writes a story about gamers harrassing a person.
It's just a hobby, jesus.
I don't know about you but I don't like being repeatedly told that I'm an evil womanhating pig over and over by numerous media outlets and that this sticks and is what many believes today.
He wasn't disagreeing with Gray Altoid. The only people he was speaking on behalf of were the unspecified abusers who seem to believe that doing a bad job on a videogame is grounds for harassment.
That's not what the post looked like at all
If you hate the animators, don't harass them. Harass (or complain to) people at the top for hiring bad animators and generally not giving their product any love.
I have no idea what sort of people would harass/threaten someone when they get upset, and I've learned to accept it as a thing you can't do anything about since it's been happening consistently since the dawn of the internet.
Of course it's gonna rub me and others the wrong way when publications start claiming en masse that [the subgroup of people they hate] is personally responsible for it

Was this thread accurate? Because I wanna point out you don't need "video game experience" to become an animator for a video game company. Usually they'll teach you the tools on-location, because there's a lot of proprietary software that isn't available to the public anyway. As long as you can apply your animation skills in sync WITH those proprietary tools, you'll be fine no matter if you come from a hobbyist or non-game related industry. Same goes for 3D artists, which she was listed as.
That said, if that's her full list of experience, that's some 3 years of experience. That's not enough for a lead position, that's destined to fail imho.

Honestly, if I worked there (or anywhere else) and a person with those credentials be hired for a lead position I'd be pretty pissed and demotivated to work on the title at all. Seeing someone entirely unqualified get a position others have worked their asses off for and maybe even spent years within the company to try and reach is demoralizing as hell, and would affect the output of the entire team.
