Here's a video of him in action flashing people!
Doesn't negate the fact that it still looks kinda like a dick.
well shit that changes it then, lock the fucker up then. it's a sandwich whose fucking dick looks like a flaky doughy piece of beard with holes in the top
He waved a sausage roll near his groin, with the clear intention of making it seem like he had his dick out. That ended up causing distress to another person, a completely reasonable response to such a stupid and childish action. As a result, he was charged with disorderly conduct and given a light penalty, which is about the right outcome for this situation. But of course people will find ways to get outraged over PC culture and SJWs taking over society, right?
But of course people will find ways to get outraged over PC culture and SJWs taking over society, right?
Literally no one has even mentioned this.
As a result, he was charged with disorderly conduct and given a light penalty, which is about the right outcome for this situation.
This I agree with, slap on the wrists.
I don't think this is harmless, it's definitely sexual harassment.
I don't think you know what that even means.
well shit that changes it then, lock the fucker up then. it's a sandwich whose fucking dick looks like a flaky doughy piece of beard with holes in the top
Are you being intentionally obtuse about this? Of course if you look right at a sausage roll it doesn't look like a dick. But what happened was that the man was holding it at his crotch, waving it around, and staring at people passing by outside the McDonald's. If you're leaving the McDonald's or whatever, you're probably not looking right at everyone's crotch to ensure that they have a sausage fucking roll there. So if you see someone acting odd and waving about something near his crotch, glance down, and notice something vaguely fleshlike and phallic, it wouldn't be too unreasonable to think that its a dick. You probably wouldn't want to double check that it's a dick because if it is one you don't really want to be looking at some stranger's dick while their walking about flashing it in public. After the woman understandably made this mistake, she crossed the road to avoid the man, who was staring at her and continued to stare at her as she crossed the road, something which is pretty intimidating if your holding out your dick and waving at people (or if people think that you are). It might not seem like much to you, but women are often the subject of harassment of a verbal and sexual nature when out in public, and actual flashers are more common than you'd think. It's not unreasonable to assume that someone waving something vaguely tan and oblong around at their crotch area is in fact waving around their dick. If the man didn't want people to legitimately think he was flashing them, and therefore face some semblance of consequences for it, maybe he shouldn't be pretending to flash people. Also I wouldn't call a sausage roll a sandwich.
Fair, the light punishment is warranted then. Ain't sexual harassment though.
It is sexual in nature though. "Look at me, I'm waving my dick around! Haha gotcha, it's just a sausage roll!"
I think we're entering dangerous territory if something as utterly dumb as this constitutes genuine sexual harrassment.
It is sexual in nature though. "Look at me, I'm waving my dick around! Haha gotcha, it's just a sausage roll!"
I mean, you're not wrong. And it's definitely something I wouldn't do to any person I've never met. But "I was alarmed and afraid" and "I'm going to change my route, now" is a bit silly. Give the man a good scolding, maybe even a light fine for casual harassment. But I still feel like it's a little much.
Jesus christ the UK is such a nanny state its not even funny. This is the definition of "NO FUN ALLOWED"

I've been publicly harassed before (not of a sexual kind like this, though), and it really can shake you, especially if there's an undercurrent of violence in the harassment, and I found that I didn't want to go to the same place for a while. It's kind of like if you were mugged at some spot, even if the assailant isn't going to be there next time, you don't want to be reminded of the even for a bit while you get over it.
Jesus christ the UK is such a nanny state its not even funny. Yea the guys a royal ass hat but putting him on probation for being a dickhead? Come on.
I think we're entering dangerous territory if something as utterly dumb as this constitutes genuine sexual harrassment.
Dangerous to who, though? People who pretend to wave their dicks around for fun?
Dangerous to who, though? People who pretend to wave their dicks around for fun?
Yes because it wasn't his fucking dick If I did the same to my friend in public and someone else saw it should I be charged with public indecency?
He's a wanker and it's sexually inappropriate but I wouldn't call it sexual harassment, surely.
if some guy was pretending to wave his cock around at your daughter or little sister would you just be like "haha, he got you, sweetie!" or would you think he was some weird sicko
Nice strawman, theoretical situations aren't going to make your argument any stronger, this was an adult woman who was 100 yards away, not some kids. How did she even know he was 'staring at her'? To put it into perspective, that's nearly 100 metres (91.44 exactly), or nearly this far away: [t]https://i.ytimg.com/vi/ew74X5z3Rgo/hqdefault.jpg[/t] The news post didn't even say it was done on purpose, just this:
..subsequently discovered he had in fact been holding a Greggs sausage roll near his groin area..
I guess I should be careful about what I hold near my groin from 100 metres away, lest the easily offended call the cops
This whole thing reminds me of that kid who got expelled/suspended because he ate his pop tart into the shape of a gun.
Its' a long way to the shop, if you want a sausage roll.
This whole thing reminds me of that kid who got expelled/suspended because he ate his pop tart into the shape of a gun.
They had a point. What if other kids farther away from his table thought that it was a real gun? He should have been charged for potentially alarming them and making them feel afraid.

Second of all, it would seem to be on purpose if he was waving it around, which is what she said he was doing. He wasn't just holding a sausage roll near his crotch idly. Third of all, the street wasn't crowded at all, and the distance isn't too far, so it would be pretty easy to tell if someone was staring and you whilst you were walking away, because you could tell if their head was tracking you. It's really not unreasonable to think that maybe the man was flashing her. [editline]3rd December 2017[/editline]
They had a point. What if other kids farther away from his table thought that it was a real gun? He should have been charged for potentially alarming them and making them feel afraid.
Well the difference here is that a pop-tart looks nothing like a gun, even if it is gun shaped, whereas, and we've been over this before, a sausage roll can kinda look like a dick, which, coupled with the man's behaviour and the general frequency of public harassment women face, makes it not too unreasonable to mistake the incident for a flashing. But please don't let this get in the way of you making sick zingers and getting outraged over someone getting punished for being a nob.
Yes because it wasn't his fucking dick If I did the same to my friend in public and someone else saw it should I be charged with public indecency?
Completely different situation, this guy was actively doing this to a complete stranger. Don't even try to pretend it's in the same ballpark.

Please just listen to yourself. Enjoy your witch hunt - I'll be enjoying my vaguely-phallic foods inside a cave where nobody can hurt me.

It's really not unreasonable to think that maybe the man was flashing her.
I've got 20/20 eyesight and there's no way I could even make out someone's face from that distance. I'd say she's guessing that he was staring at her, and.. what, she stood and stared back for 5-10 seconds without doing anything? Oh, she was going to take a photo, but didn't? The story just doesn't add up at all. She saw a guy with a sausage roll who wasn't even looking at her and was alone - even with mental health issues, it's more likely he was just holding it there without realising. Afterwards, SHE stared at him for 5-10 seconds because how the fuck else would she know he was staring at her for 10 seconds. That'd cause anyone to stare back. I don't really believe the 'waving' part, based on this story it's more likely he was just holding it in an unfortunate place without realising, and he might not have been keeping it completely still. This story has been heavily exaggerated to make this woman a shocked victim, when in reality it was probably nothing like she's explaining it.
the woman didn't realize it was a sausage roll. she thought he had his dick out, so she called the police on him
And the police shouldn't have arrested him and booked him once they realized it was a sausage roll. The whole situation is just dumb.
WARNING: Images below may cause severe discomfort. [t]https://i.imgur.com/AdJEXfE.png[/t] I'm sorry if this causes anyone distress, but as you can see below, from afar this may look like a woman flashing her breasts: We need to round up these sexual deviants and ensure that they can never harm another person again.
Hypothetically would it be theft or grievous bodily harm if she stole it and ate it?
This seems kind of interesting, because I'm quite in two minds about this. The first side is obviously: Its a fuckin sausage roll who gives a shit But on the other hand, its not literally the exact precise shape and wavelength of colour on seeing someone's penis that causes something to be sexual harassment as a reflex response, its the intent of them exposing their genitals to you which causes it to be distressing. So from this point of view, if you can't tell its not their penis, and they're pretending its their penis, and the intent is the same as a flashers, it seems like its definitely sexual harassment I think its particularly difficult from a facepunch relatively heavily male perspective because its much less shocking as a dude to get flashed, as well as much less of a common occurrence. There's much less implicit danger and context as a man being in this kind of situation, which I think is why the mentality of "its just a sausage roll" is so appealing - it is to us and I personally wouldn't be even remotely upset by it, but to some women who are comparatively much *much* more aware of being sexually assaulted constantly, its less just a sausage roll and a joke, but instead much more common sexual harassment but this time with a sausage roll This is the problem with taking something that's just a joke like this and performing it in public - its funny to some people, but other people have extremely different contexts to their lives. And given that someone apparently thought it literally was a penis, I wouldn't say this is unreasonable - don't trick people into thinking they've literally seen your genitals in a context where that isn't acceptable (ie public)
