Exactly! And how would other women identify a trans woman if she wore a bathing suit. The point of not allowing men in is because of making people uncomfortable. If the genitalia is out of sight, it's out of mind.
If that were the case then any dude could go there with swimming trunks, but newsflash that's against policy.
yeah, being trans often times is kinda like that
u forgot that i said "one single spa".
Agree that the people responsible of the Spa have the right to do this then. Agree that women with vaginas have the right to feel comfortable with no dicks around regardless of gender or other physical traits.
No they don't because their attempt to make their customers feel more comfortable have accidentally alienated a group of people.
You've completely missed the point. Yes, the business can do whatever they want. Whether or not what they are doing is right is the problem.
It is seemingly that they haven't had any problem other than this forced controversy.
Can I ban everyone with uncircumcised dicks from going to my gas station? Finding something icky is not grounds for banning it, especially when it allows for arbitrary discrimination.
I don't know. Do you generally have a bunch of naked families getting messages and lounging in your gas station???
No they don't because their attempt to make their customers feel more comfortable have accidentally alienated a group of people.
Welcome to equality then, trans-women are on par with men when it comes to women's only places. It's still their right to do this. Just go somewhere else. It's just ONE SPA IN A GIGANTIC COUNTRY.
If that were the case then any dude could go there with swimming trunks, but newsflash that's against policy.
If I run a gym can I ban people with deformities or uncircumcised penises?
If that were the case then any dude could go there with swimming trunks, but newsflash that's against policy.
well we're not talking about "dudes with swimming trunks" here, we're talking about trans WOMEN who very likely have spent a rather long time on hormones because otherwise they probably wouldnt go there because of being super self-conscious about their bodies. oh yeah maybe tmi but hrt shrinks stuff anyway so like you're not gonna see anything (EDIT: talking about when wearing bathsuits ofc lol but hey it can get pretty unnoticeable even when naked LOL)
Welcome to equality then, trans-women are on par with men when it comes to women's only places. It's still their right to do this.
That's not equality though?
If I run a gym can I ban people with deformities or uncircumcised penises?
Deformities are irrelevant. And I'd say you could if your gym had a bunch of families working out naked?? These analogies are batshit.
I don't know. Do you generally have a bunch of naked families getting messages and lounging in your gas station???
If I run a medical practice can I ban people with physical deformities from receiving medical treatment? Can I ban gingers if I find them to be gross? Can a Muslim restaurant owner ban women with uncovered hair from his restaurant?
I don't see the problem here. They have a policy that says no dicks. So no dicks. Nothing to do about her gender
If that were the case then any dude could go there with swimming trunks, but newsflash that's against policy.
The need for female only spas in general is a separate, although not entirely irrelevant, discussion.
Deformities are irrelevant. And I'd say you could if your gym had a bunch of families working out naked?? These analogies are batshit.
Nope, they're right on point actually. You cant ban something because you find it icky, regardless of culture. Especially when it allows you to arbitrarily ban essentially anyone under the guise of it.
If I run a medical practice can I ban people with physical deformities from receiving medical treatment? Can I ban gingers if I find them to be gross? Can a Muslim restaurant owner ban women with uncovered hair from his restaurant?
Your analogies are painful.
If that were the case then any dude could go there with swimming trunks, but newsflash that's against policy.
Yeah because it advertises as women only. So women should be allowed in. Segregating which women are and aren't allowed in by these kind of traits is discriminatory! Wow.
Your analogies are painful.
As is your argumentative ability.
If I run a medical practice can I ban people with physical deformities from receiving medical treatment? Can I ban gingers if I find them to be gross? Can a Muslim restaurant owner ban women with uncovered hair from his restaurant?
Are you being sincere or facetious?
Nope, they're right on point actually. You cant ban something because you find it icky, regardless of culture. Especially when it allows you to arbitrarily ban essentially anyone under the guise of it.
So you're saying the the no-dick policy was put in place so they could disingenuously ban transgendered women who haven't gone through surgery? Care to back that up?
That's not equality though?
It's pretty sad that you go on the WAYT thread and act like anyone here claiming the spa is in the right is some sort of discriminatory/transphobic freak that deserves to be on your "shitlist". It really does show the true colors of people when you are being so stubborn into thinking people are trying alienate transgenders when it's not the case at all, especially when some people here have advocated for trans rights and defended transgenders before. I don't think anyone here is transphobic, I think people here understand the situation and you're forcing this into a transgender issue incorrectly and it's fucked up on your part to think this way about members of the forum for thinking differently than you. It's a pretty sad situation that you have no clear intent on coming to terms but rather just shit on people questioning you otherwise.
Are you being sincere or facetious?
I am being sincere. If people are allowed to discriminate based on any anatomical difference it allows you to discriminate against any party while hiding under the guise of it.
It's pretty sad that you go on the WAYT thread and act like anyone here claiming the spa is in the right is some sort of discriminatory/transphobic freak that deserves to be on your "shitlist".
Oh wow, what a coward. [editline]13th June 2017[/editline]
I am being sincere. If people are allowed to discriminate based on any anatomical difference it allows you to discriminate against any party while hiding under the guise of it.
Sounds like a pretty slippery slope :downs:
Welcome to equality then, trans-women are on par with men when it comes to women's only places. It's still their right to do this. Just go somewhere else. It's just ONE SPA IN A GIGANTIC COUNTRY.
It's easy to say "it only happens in one gym" but this isn't happening in a vacuum. You can't have missed all the controversy about trans rights in public restrooms, this is an extension of the sort of attitude that prevents trans people from living life like any other person because people are so prudish that they can't stand the possibility of seeing a woman with a penis.
Sounds like a pretty slippery slope :downs:
Sounds like you dont have an argument.
I am being sincere. If people are allowed to discriminate based on any anatomical difference it allows you to discriminate against any party while hiding under the guise of it.
For starters
If I run a medical practice can I ban people with physical deformities from receiving medical treatment? Can I ban gingers if I find them to be gross?
Is fiction, and
Can a Muslim restaurant owner ban women with uncovered hair from his restaurant?
Is reality, in some parts of the world do you understand why someone would be confused by your analogy?
For starters Is fiction, and Is reality, in some parts of the world do you understand why someone would be confused by your analogy?
So you don't have anything substantial to say?
It's pretty sad that you go on the WAYT thread and act like anyone here claiming the spa is in the right is some sort of discriminatory/transphobic freak that deserves to be on your "shitlist".
So you don't have anything substantial to say?
I'm just trying to clear the air on why someone would ask if you're being "sincere or facetious". If you're gonna try and prove a point, you're not helping your argument when you compare reality with hypotheticals.
So, like, if you're a trans woman, and you aren't aware of this policy, do they do a penis inspection just to be safe? Do they do this for everyone? Do they just kick you out in front of everybody, potentially outing you, exposing you to danger? Do they have any duty to not tell people about the lady with the dick who walked in and here's her name and address? Do they have a system in place to handle that discreetly?
If you're going to bring up a post from an entirely different thread in an attempt to undermine my character instead of responding to my points, then I think we're done here.
It is entirely related to what you are currently arguing, own up to it. You have also avoid and ignored some of my posts. Let's not be hypocrites and add fuel to the flame here.
