You don't have to. With that kind of cash I'd still own a nice car.. Not a bugatti or a Ferrari or something, but I'd own a MB or Porsche for sure. Something that would still be enjoyable to drive yet not a massive loss if it gets destroyed

Probably helps him blend in in public, since he does look like a pretty normal guy you'd see at the grocery store or something. Whereas bill gates and warren buffett look fairly distinct.
No one is going to know who Jeff Bezos is or what he looks like outside of business and tech industry fans. However he lives in a part of the US almost exclusively populated by business and tech industry fans.

My self-made millionaire uncle is the same. He's a very efficiency-minded person, I would imagine Bezos is as well. No interest in fluff or making a show, you wouldn't know he's a millionaire just by looking at him.

To this fucking day I swear that about six years ago I was stopped at a light in downtown Seattle trying to get to the I5 and fucking in the lane beside me driving a green Acura or Mazda was Bill Gates.
