I've yet to see a female sound engineer, light tech, set builder or mover... I want to see this event happen just because I'm 100% certain that they'll have to employ men to set the whole thing up.

They are hard to come across as most seem to stay to BOH rather than FOH.
Who's up for organizing a crack-open-a-cold-one festival for the boys only? No nagging allowed on the premises, only beer and testosterone.

They are hard to come across as most seem to stay to BOH rather than FOH.
I'm not saying they don't - I've just yet to see one... I'm a DJ and I go to many festivals, clubs and events as a listener and a performer, and nothing. I think it would be a monumental effort to assemble a crew of only women.
So I'm fine with this. Nothing more than a grander version of a "girls night only" at a pub, and a more elaborate "Ladies Night". Getting upset over this is kind of ridiculous.
Aren't we supposed to be fighting sexism and cultural norms? I thought people wanted equality.....
Aren't we supposed to be fighting sexism and cultural norms?
Well, a Gaming Conference only for women was canceled recently in Spain due the massive harassment done to the organizers, the speakers and even to the people who were to attend it, showing indeed there's a large sector of the public being toxic and opposed to women, so is completely normal that safe zones like this one happens. Especially after reading this:
I don't think it that it is tied to the gender but rather the fact that this event was exclusively made for one gender alone. That is just a ridiculous thing. Sure nobody minds a ladies night sorts of event but if you really reinforce that it's limited to one gender alone, it's just extremely hostile and offensive.
Did you not read what you just replied to at all Why isolate part of the quote if you're just going to disregard that point entirely?
I read it, still doesn't refute my point. Girls night only at a pub is still a cultural norm that disproportionately negatively affects one gender. I'm sure such a progressive nation would be ecstatic about removing such a sexist cultural norm.
I don't think we need to make this into a persecution contest. Is it really so hard to acknowledge the problems that both sexes experience without creating these clashing factions and creating conflict where there doesn't need to be any?
My post wasn't intended to start a persecution contest. Given that it's a common theme for feminists to make the claim that women have it much worse than men then I think it's fair to make such a post with a similar claim only backed up by real statistics. It's certainly something that needs to be said given the few people in this thread that have come in support of this "men-only" festival.

Sure nobody minds a ladies night sorts of event but if you really reinforce that it's limited to one gender alone, it's just extremely hostile and offensive.
The thing is that this kind of events are made in response for the big numbers of sexual attacks, harassment and disbelief ( girls can't play/make games/they are all posing/They use boobs to attract views/They only complain ) and others so women can feel safe and express/share their opinions. I'm particularly sad that people here are more upset about "I can't get into this event" rather than "I can't believe such numbers of atrocities done to women, why".
I've yet to see a female sound engineer, light tech, set builder or mover... Imagine the queues for the toilets.
All that time that this article was here, I thought it meant that everything would be controlled by an AI, including the creation of the music, choreography of the lighting and special effects etc. and thought "wow, sounds cool as heck". This version is much shittier.
