• Study finds that e-cig regulations push young people to conventional cigarettes

When I decided to try vaping, I threw my cigarettes away the same day with the thought that if vaping wont help, I might as well just quit the whole shebang. I have to admit, the fact that vaping is less harmful was something I noticed in a very short amount of time and I'm glad I made the switch, despite the social stigma. It shouldn't recieve the same regulations as tobacco products do, because they're fundamentally different in many ways, but certain things like age restriction and prohibiting indoor use in public places makes sense.
Why the fuck are young people smoking to begin with is the question people should really be asking.
because flavour country baby but seriously now, kills you AND your wallet... whats the point?!
It's weird because the other day I saw a kid who was maybe 11 of 12 years old tabs cycling down the road with a vape in his mouth.
Anyone who must ask this sort of question to begin with doesn't understand life.
Anyone who writes off peer pressure as 'outdated nonsense' probably doesn't understand life that much either. Look, I'm very sorry that you feel like you're being attacked for defending smoking but there's probably a reason for that.
Only reasons I ever considered cigs are apparently common ones -- smokers at my job are allotted smoking breaks, while I don't smoke so I basically have to work without pause. Taking up smoking would allow me a break and give me an excuse to shoot the breeze with coworkers, which is why peer-pressure is often brought up. That said, I've only had one cig in my life, a fair number of cigars, and lots of weed :v:
It's outdated nonsense because it relies on the assumption that people are willing to completely disregard their health, consciously, for years, just so they could fit in.
Mate, peer pressure is the way you get addicted. It's the biggest reason why teenagers begin, and then they continue because nicotine is addicting as fuck
Linking an article from 15 years ago which is the first result when googling "smoking peer pressure". :ok:
How to loose all credibility in one simple step. It doesn't matter if it's from 15, 20, or even 100 years ago dude. But I would like to know where your sources are though, because good lord you need them.
Even so, this article fails to correlate between smoking and peer pressure. Entertain the thought, that perhaps, these teens were more likely to start smoking not because of peer pressure alone, but rather a variety of factors in their lives that made the concept of smoking appealing to them? Why isn't this taken into account? At what point in their methodology did they manage to establish that all teens who smoke are blithering idiots who just mimic their friends? I'm discrediting the inherent value of studies like these because they establish no basis, but rather present a vague continuum of a social phenomena that cannot be put into numbers by its nature - because as I've previously said, the concept is far too fluid, personal and nonstatic so as to be able to claim that teenagers are more likely to smoke because of their friends, period.
Dude, the article is titled "Peer pressure biggest influence on teen smokers", not "Peer pressure only influence on teen smokers". And it doesn't really matter what other influences there are, one is going to overrule them all in most cases.
retarded article made by someone who likes to cut corners, with a very clear agenda in mind.
The agenda of healthier and better smelling people who don't waste their money on what they are addicted to?
Popularity, oral fixation, flavor. The biggest thing is oral fixation. The majority of the world's population just enjoys messing with shit in their mouth. There's a reason there's so many chewed up pens.
OK Sigmund Freud, we get it everyone's secretly gay :v:
E juice is vegetable glycerin, food flavorings, and nicotine thats it( a lot have no nicotine). I have been making my own for about two years now. Don't be propagandized. Also nicotine by itself is as about as harmful as caffeine. The harm from smoking doesn't come from nicotine it comes from combustion and the harmful bi-products.
