It's pretty obvious that they designed it to have a grill then just deleted it. There's no reason for that flat crease on the front to exist otherwise.
Personally I really hate the fake grills a lot of EVs have.

I think if you made the Model 3 nose too round it would look too much like a Porsche.

My Saturn had all that info in the center too. Once you get used to it, it's pretty nice, considering you can see more without the dials right in front of you

I don't think that's inherently a bad thing, though it'd need much more round headlights to look like a Porsche. But mostly it'd like more like any mid or rear-engine car, which can have a [I]much[/I] sleeker nose for aerodynamics.

That sounds more like you're sitting with bad/unsafe posture than any inherent design problem with the dash cluster. I'm of average height and lean back a bit, and I've only noticed one car where the gauge cluster obscures anything beyond the hood, and that one car was a hyped up roadster that sits so low to the ground that it doesn't matter anyways.

Okay, maybe I couldn't actually SEE more. It aas just nice to have the dash in front of you smooth and undistracting I guess. Kind of reminded me of sitting in the passengers seat.
Although I am giggling at the thought of a driver so short they can't see over the gauges :v:

There's a hard physical upper limit for how much power a solar panel can output, and it's not enough to keep something like a car driving continuously.

Even if we could put solar panels on all the upper surfaces of the car and if we could convert 100% of that energy to electricity(and currently it's just around 15-20%, so this is very far fetched) you are looking at only 1000-2000W of electric power on full bright day at noon moving a car that weights two tons. That would mean using a vacuum cleaner engine to drive your car. Solar roof on a car is a "feel good" gimmick and best it could do is power that tablet in the center and maybe charge your smartphone.
How long would it take to charge the car enough to drive if you were stranded in the middle of the desert?

If you could actually get 2kW of power from the panels then it would be pretty amazing, of course you won't be able to get anything like that for a long time. 4 1/2 hours in the sun would cover my daily commute.
At the NGA meeting today Musk said solar panels on the car isn't really a good idea.
