Tbh give all 6 to Uwe Boll [editline]22nd May 2017[/editline] I hear he needs more tax writeoffs
Event Horizon was good and Mortal Kombat was a fun movie but that's about all the good I'll say about him.
Unpopular opinion, I liked Alien Vs Predator.
I think I'd rather see them approach the stylistic elements of the pre-RE4 games and RE7 and just do something totally original with its own characters, if vaguely in the universe. Make it suspense/horror, and do just one instead of six. And don't make it a fucking jumpscare horror movie with zero plot progression and basically just people living their lives as supposedly spooky shit occurs near them. Honestly, just don't make more Resident Evil movies.
Honestly though the first movie was absolutely great. The 2nd and later... not so much. They turned from a eerie horror flick to basically some chick having godlike superpowers and smashing everyone to bits with crude B-rated comedy smashed in. Exhibit A: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gQNgh6iSBM
I think the games are trash (Seriously, those angles?) and the movies are better. [sp]This post belongs in the unpopular opinions thread[/sp]
Tbh give all 6 to Uwe Boll [editline]22nd May 2017[/editline] I hear he needs more tax writeoffs
Look, we're trying to get Guantanamo Bay shut down here, not give them newer material for torture.
Unpopular opinion, I liked Alien Vs Predator.
I do too but sometimes I wonder if I just like the idea of Alien Vs Predator rather than how it actually was. There's something I'd like to see more of, preferably more in the style of the first and not Reqiuem. I think they overdid the R rating on the second one. For some reason I enjoy Alien and Predator films more leaning towards PG-13/80's R. Feels like recent ones like Predators and such are just loading them with overplayed gore and cursing for no real reason, and it makes the film feel more trashy to me. I guess I prefer AvP as an action film rather than a typical slasher with a bit of infighting. Not a big slasher/horror fan, but Predator is always fun. Wish we could get a new AvP done in like a tone of Judgement Day or something. [editline]22nd May 2017[/editline] That being said (liking action/horror way better than actual horror) I don't care for these RE movies [editline]22nd May 2017[/editline] I probably would've enjoyed them if it was Chris or Leon instead of some OC though Edit: Actually, fuck this guy who made these Resident Evil movies and AvP I just read that the Hellboy writer had a baller script for AvP way before he came along, back before Aliens 3 was even out. Fucked up thing is, I wouldn't mind a live action Resident Evil, if (and this is the big one) IF it were actually any good. To be honest, I was a fan of these films, at least the first two. Afterwards I could barely stomach single viewings. I see potential for a live action Resident Evil that either focuses on horror (body horror to be specific, remember the tasty diary from RE1? more shit like that) or on all out action (like the ridiculous bullshit that was present in RE4-6) or some combination of that (RE7 like?) One thing I really DON'T want to see more of is this series being butchered further. Is it too much to ask for something like the CG RE films? At least those can be considered in-universe/canon.
How could would it be if the Resident Evil movie series actually had a interesting and deep plot that could easily spawn over a few movies so that the viewer are always left wondering what will happen next? Well, perhaps when the second reboot comes [editline]22nd May 2017[/editline] Also the Silent Hill movie was kinda neat, wish i could see more of that
Event Horizon was good and Mortal Kombat was a fun movie but that's about all the good I'll say about him.
Oh fuck, almost forgot Event Horizon. Mortal Kombat sucked, though.
Oh fuck, almost forgot Event Horizon. Mortal Kombat sucked, though.
Yeah, but Mortal Kombat was the entertaining kind of bad movie. Anhialation however...
Annihilation had Baraka, Cyrax/Sektor and Scorpion yelling SUCKERSSSS so I forgive it [editline]22nd May 2017[/editline] also who could forget that hilarious part where sheeva got crushed by a fucking cage
Can they at least get someone competent behind the wheel this time? I mean, I enjoyed Death Race but pretty much everything else Paul WS Anderson has made is fucking wretched.
They should replace him with Wes Anderson.
Annihilation had Baraka, Cyrax/Sektor and Scorpion yelling SUCKERSSSS so I forgive it [editline]22nd May 2017[/editline] also who could forget that hilarious part where sheeva got crushed by a fucking cage
I will not forgive because they missed a golden oportunity to keep Johny Cage alive long enough for him to say "You got caged!" after that.
You may be surprised to hear this but I don't really like Johnny Cage
If they do a movie series actually based on the games I will be happy, hopefully they have realized their initial mistake however it's unfortunate they made so much money off of those absolutely trash movies. If I see a teaser of a chase scene with dogs and a mansion I will be very very happy.
Base it on the actual games this time and bring us all the fun characters from the games. Doesn't have to be a 1 to 1 adaptation of the games as long as they get the characters right. [editline]22nd May 2017[/editline]
If I see a teaser of a chase scene with dogs and a mansion I will be very very happy.
Zombie dogs chasing S.T.A.R.S. members towards a mansion, fade to black, moonlight sonata starts playing, title fades in.
Should just leave it to the CGI movies, at least those are decent, not perfect but good enough, and actually have something to do with the damn games
I wish they'd just take cues from the old George Romero script. Make a self-aware adaptation.
Maybe this time they can hire a writer that doesn't pen the start of the outbreak happening when an airborne virus vial is broken inside a specialized containment area for airborne virus storage which has an AIRDUCT THAT CONNECTS TO THE LAB'S MAIN VENTILATION SYSTEM. It's little wonder movieverse Umbrella fucking died. And this is before they send a special forces team to break into the lab and shut down the AI which is trying to stop them because it was programmed to stop any outbreaks escaping the facility.
Resident Evil movie series...

Reboot
"Stop it. Don't open that door!"
Did the previous movies, especially the later ones, actualy make any money?
Read the op? It says the latest made 160mil in China alone
Did the previous movies, especially the later ones, actualy make any money?
The first movie earned about $103 million at the box office, while the second movie garnered a $23.6 million increase on the previous movie's earnings ($126.3 million), while the third movie made and additional $21.4 million (about $147.7 million total). The fourth movie had a major spike at the box office, garnering about $300.2 million total. The fifth movie, as disappointing as it was, still made a large amount at the box office ($240.2 million), though not quite as much as the fourth movie. The sixth movie, however, managed to spike back up and earn a total of $312.2 million at the box office. And when considering that the general budget for each movie was less than half of what they actually earned in profit at the box office ($33 million for the first film, $45 million for the second and third films, $60 million for the fourth, $65 million for the fifth, and $40 million for the last film), I'd say they did surprisingly well with the series as a whole.
More details are coming in now http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/news/851133-james-wan-resident-evil-reboot James Wan (Saw, Conjuring, Fast 7) is producing, and some guy that just wrote the upcoming Mortal Kombat movie that people have been trying to make for ages is handling the screenplay for this. Eh. Still waiting on the director choice.
Please no i just started thinking it was over
Yeah, but Mortal Kombat was the entertaining kind of bad movie. Anhialation however...
Paul W. S. Anderson was only responsible for the first one. Annihilation was made by the guys that made Foodfight (yes really).
Look, we're trying to get Guantanamo Bay shut down here, not give them newer material for torture.
the eyeball scene from clockwork orange was actually using Uwe Boll films as torture material
I'm only interested if they at least try to stay loyal to the source material, but I guess it's too much to really ask. Guess it might not be so easy to make a compelling film about a group of people stuck in a mansion filled with the undead, and other creatures. Films based on games just aren't there yet still.
If I remember correctly there was a script for the first movie that followed the original game pretty closely. I read through it and it felt like it would've been a better movie than the one we got. I want them to follow the storyline of the games so we can have Wesker kicking the shit out of people. Just don't steal the choreography from the games this time please. On a related note the VA for Wesker in the later games has expressed interest in these movies, he could honestly make a pretty good Wesker with the right hair color and style and some sunglasses.
