Take-Two sent a C&D letter to the OpenIV team, therefore killing GTA 5 modding

I really want to write a negative review but i don't own GTA V on steam only on Social Club...
Anyway guess fucking what Take Two, all of this shit would have been solved if you were to implement proper dedicated player hosted servers for GTA V PC and leave sharkcards and matchmaking and the sort of crap for consoles.
So what is down voting gonna do in the real word ?

probably nothing, it still feels good though :v:

It's a clear and direct message from the consumer to the publisher that they are unhappy and don't want any of the things they are pushing. And yes, they already have my money from the game.
But so did Valve and Bethesda.

Might be mistaken, but didn't Take-Two's stock price also begin to dip as a result of this? I know they said that it could have just been market trends, they had been steadily increasing throughout the year, but I dont believe in coincidences.

Its going to look really bad for take two when their games have big fat red "NEGATIVE" with hundreds of thumbs downs on their store page
Petitions and youtube comments wont do anything but shitting all over their sale page directly hurts them

Either present the message that GTA games need proper mod support/Take Two needs to stop interfering with mods.
OR
Present a message that PC players don't like Take Two's/Rockstar's games, and thus they should never bother with PC ports again.
Also, don't get me wrong, I absolutely despise the decision that Take Two has made, but mods are really not the main reason why people play GTA V. I mean look at the game now on Steam. Despite pulling down OpenIV, and despite the massive wave of negative reviews, there are still 100,000+ people playing the game on Steam. Most of these people are playing GTA Online and don't have any mods installed.
Whether you love it or hate it (I'm in the hate it camp), GTA Online is the main reason why people play GTA V on PC, and it makes sense. At the end of the day, despite the Shark Card and P2P bullshit, the core concept of "playing GTA online" is enough to keep people interested.
I really do hope Take Two changes their mind, but I'm extremely doubtful. GTA is pretty much their crown jewel, so I could understand them being greedy as fuck and not wanting anyone to touch it, while "lesser products" like XCOM and now KSP can be touched by us peasant players just fine.
They should have made GTA:O a separate game altogether and left SP alone, mods are the only reason I kept GTA5 installed.

Isn't FiveM closed source now? :V
Also, I hope we get an OpenIV replacement soon, with source code this time for fucks sake.
Kinda late, but no, it's still open source: https://github.com/citizenfx/fivem
Wish if i can downvote it,but since i don't own the game, all i can do is just sit there and watch as the onslaught of downvotes marches on.
I hope it becomes the most downvoted game on steam.
Who holds that dubious honor right now, by the way?

Here, sort by negative ratings:

Huh, didn't expect, yet not surprising CS:GO has the most negatives
Kinda depends. There are multiple games on Steam with only negative votes. The game with the most negative votes though is Counter Strike: Global Offensive with 168,575. GTA:V only has 78,089 but is now second.
Take-Two's actions were not specifically targeting single player mods. Unfortunately OpenIV enables recent malicious mods that allow harassment of players.
The only people doing the harassment is take two.
Heck when they sent private investigators -Dirty paid goons- to the homes where the devs of FiveM lived.
Yep that's harassment.

Yeah but CSGO also has 1.8 million positive reviews compared to GTA V's 185k

Wait is that true? That's fucking horrible.

Sorry, you're wrong. That's not how it works. As someone who has modded (and by that I meant created mods) GTAV, I can say that it does not allow you to create what plagues GTAO. Those are script menus which are just a trainer like you would find for any other game, and it's actually even easier to make for GTAV because of how reliant on scripts everything is, and for the longest time they were visible in plaintext as to what the function did. The attempts they made to hide the scripts were almost immediately undone because of a community of people finding out what each call was doing, some are still unknown but a majority have been identified.
Example:
void SET_PLAYER_MAY_ONLY_ENTER_THIS_VEHICLE(Player player, Vehicle vehicle) // 8026FF78F208978A A454DD29
I wonder what that does
or maybe
void SET_ENTITY_INVINCIBLE(Entity entity, BOOL toggle) // 3882114BDE571AD4 C1213A21

Buy it, leave a review then refund it.
I'm a little late to the discussion, but I wanted to say that leaving negative reviews, even if it concerns a feature that is officially unsupported, is fine as long as the information is accurate and relevant to potential buyers.
GTA:O should be a standalone F2P (P2W) MMO grindfest. It's sort of what it is already, cept with a $60 campaign thrown in. There are plenty of people who like that sort of thing, so why do the rest of us have to suffer?
Fuck they even closed Menyoo.
Hope someone leaks so bad at T2 for this one now.
I urge everyone to boycott Take-Two products, including the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2. This is absolute horseshit and a travesty.
Hahahah yeah I'll be okay 😂
I wish I could even play this game. My account was hacked by Russians three months ago and rockstar support never got back to me so guess I'm out 40$.

"buy a new copy" is what I'd expect.

wtf, menyoo was scripthook right? doesn't that disable itself when you go online? what is with the mod hate boner from take-two
wtf, menyoo was scripthook right? doesn't that disable itself when you go online? what is with the mod hate boner from take-two
Menyoo is a trainer, it requires scripthook like other trainers and script based mods. Scripthook is developed by a different guy.

They had a version that went online if you paid them ten bux. They screwed themselves over with that.

it's content for their game, and they're not getting money from it
it's content for their game, and they're not getting money from it
they've never released singleplayer content so i dont see why it would matter to them
