Spyro Trilogy Remaster (Possibly) Coming to PS4 This Year
Even if this doesn't happen, going back to the originals is pretty painless. The controls and gameplay hold up really well, and the graphics have aged tremendously for PS1 games.
I think the graphics held up well because it made really good use of color, the world was filled with things and the game had a really good draw distance for a PS1 game, where you could see the other side of a decently sized level. Not to mention the cool technique they used for drawing the backgrounds, which works on any resolution
Spyro Trilogy remaster?
and a new Crash Bandicoot title in 2019?
Great way to end the decade.
N. Sane Trilogy honestly needs more credit than it got. If Spyro gets the same treatment on the same level of quality, I honestly think we have very little to be worried about

Did it not get enough credit? I thought it was an outstanding success, although to be truthful I never really read any online reviews. Mainly because I wanted the experience to be completely my own, since I loved these games back on the PS1
I'd kill for a full remaster of the Jak and Daxter series.
Admittedly in terms of game mechanics they weren't that engaging, imo, but I loved them. Same with Ratchet and Clank, but seeing Going Commando and Up You Arsenal - as much as it would be a godsend - isn't very likely.
I already went back and bought the original trilogy a few years ago.
These games did hold up well. The only problem would be the camera but it's not really that big of a problem. It's just something you notice was greatly improved in the PS2 era

I am very happy about this.
This is just further solidifying my need to get a PS4. It just has the best exclusives.
Mine has been a Netflix machine for the past 12 months. Sony takes forever to get their shit out.
Hopefully the remaster comes to other systems as well (as the rumour suggests), would love to play Spyro on my PC.

There was already a Jak and Daxter remaster on PS3
Please...Please don't be a rumor. If it's not I will start looking into getting a PS4 so fast.
Spyro is literally one of my first video games ever and it means so much to me. For the love of god, for my eager heart pleaaaaaaaaaase be real.
Please keep the same look Spyro had from the PS1 era. I don't want that fucking lizard pug you people have been posting.
There isn't really anything worthwhile that was cut from the first 3 spyro games. At least from what is known anyway.

that's an upscale with slightly better textures, not a ground-up remake like N-sane trilogy or the latest release of SotC
he said full remaster
I hope they don't touch the music

The Jak, Ratchet and Sly collections are all pretty terrible though.
You're better off with the ps2 copies.

That game looked like ass. Maybe it's just me (and I've brought this up too many times) but I feel like the dated graphics of the originals are too integral to the artstyle they used back in the day, and I'd always pick them over some up-res'd textures and lighting and fur effects.
Also I think the Medevil remaster is just a re-release of the vita version up-res'd with the same treatment so yeah.
While I know it would never happen, it would be incredible if Insomniac came back to do this remaster. I had a number of complaints about the Ratchet and Clank reboot, but the visuals sure as hell weren't one of them.

I don't know how to feel. It's Spyro, the Spyro that I grew up with. If it comes back in a good way, I'll finally be pushed into buying a PS4. Hell, I still play the first one to this day, and I might gush about Stewart Copeland's music a little bit too much.
But if it's true, it's still being published by Activision. I have a lot of reasons to be wary of publisher interference now that the N. Sane Trilogy was such a success. :wavey:
Yes very please

That is a full remaster. Crash and SotC are full remakes.

A remaster is not a remake.
N-sane trilogy was a remake, I assume Shadow of the Colossus was as well.
Also they gave the models more polys, as well in the Jak and Daxter collection.
I would legitimately consider buying a PS4 just for this.
Classic games is getting remasters and remakes. 2018 is the new 1998.

And reimaginings to their original visions with Oddworld Soulstorm <3

Not worth making a new thread over
...and it looks like he has the good design.
I don't know why people are considering buying a PS4 for these remasters, it might come out their first but if they're following the Crash Trilogy model it'll be on your favourite alternative platform in a year.
Give it a few months and it'll be ported over to PC etc like crash, Activision loves money and this is another milker.
