Honestly, I am not entirely sure why this game is on here.
It's not even finished, and thus far... hasn't had anything impactful happen other than a couple really interesting depictions of PTSD. The original series handled actually serious topics, this one is just kinda a fun romp.
Swear to god if MvC:I wins best fighting game....
Speaking of MVC:I, I saw it for $14 CAD on CDKeys :0

what’s with all the PUBG hate lmao is it cuz it’s the most popular game out there right now and it’s cool and contrarian to dislike it because it’s not as polished as those epic triple A titles that can’t even compete? PUBG is the chad of video games and it isn’t even complete yet

Even then, it's plagued with performance issues, networking issues, engine shenanigans and developer scumbaggery. It's fun as shit but jesus christ it's rough as shit.

There are many issues I have with the game personally and don't find it enjoyable past about an hour a week, but that is the main one for me. Compare Nier with PUBG and you can tell a lot more effort and creativity went into Nier - a game far more deserving of GOTY. Worst part - PUBG probably will win with the huge asian demographic most likely going to vote.

I only voted for what I've actually played. Here's hoping it turns out well for Resident Evil 7, Cuphead and Warframe. Though I did vote Tekken 7 despite having played none of the nominees as it's gotten the least negative talk out of the nominees on my platform/on PC.
I wish RE7 had more representation, anything that increases the possibility of RE8 just being RE7's version of RE2. Trust me, this nonsense of connections means a lot to me.
An open world action game that came out a week before BOTW and got massively overshadowed as a result. I hear it's decent.
A very pretty game with some solid gameplay. I'm nowhere near done with it so I can't say much of the plot exactly but it's been interesting so far. I could understand it winning some awards for the visuals and stuff at least, fairly impressive output for a console game. A bad fucking time to release an open world exploration focused game really.
If Nier doesn't win best narrative and ost I'm so done lmao.
How Team Fortress 2 not on best ongoing game? Games Been going strong for 10 years and we just got a major content update
How Team Fortress 2 not on best ongoing game? Games Been going strong for 10 years and we just got a major content update
it definitely deserves it a million times better than pubg or destiny 2
How Team Fortress 2 not on best ongoing game? Really happy to see Persona 5 up there. It definitely won't win GoTY but I hope it at least wins best soundtrack, I still listen to it all the time.
doki doki literature club is pretty much weeb 5 nights at freddie's at this point
cuphead is just 2d dark souls
Is H:ZD this good or is it only on the list because Sony needs its AAA representation? I heard absolutely nothing about it from anybody I know other than "it's a fun game albeit somewhat generic" [editline]15th November 2017[/editline] Also PUBG on GOTY, Overwatch on "best esports" and GTA:O for best Multiplayer? lmfao
But the real question is if we can unironicaly blame the normies for all the bad choices in the Game Awards?

It reminded me a lot of Witcher 3, which is no bad thing. Horrible timing with the release date though, yeah. Nearly as bad as the timing for Titanfall 2, and that at least was probably EA fucking with Respawn.
I genuinely can't tell if people are being facetious about this visual novel

Brian Bloom or Ashley Burch for best performance please, I like Claudia Black but out of the 5 I pick either Brian Bloom or Ashley Burch.
Why did we need another two people from uncharted again this year in best performance?

PUBG is the chad of video games and it isn’t even complete yet
The same can be asked is why people defend the game so blindly. Just to put some perspective - I have over 270 hours played, I've made around 300 dollars off of the game selling cosmetics and crates. This game does not deserve any rewards what so ever, the game isn't complete nor it is even "full release." The company in my opinion has made minimal changes and strides to makes the game fun and playable. The game is still riddled with issues, yes they have made improvements but it hasn't been enough. When you release your game as early access and slowly turn-out updates with the amount of success there has been with the game, you are bound to get crap for it. Network issues, performance issues, lack of content, and the way the devs have been operating are all valid complaints and criticism. I get more updates from an indie dev which hasn't had even 1/4 of the success of this game and has a smaller team. This game doesn't deserve an award in its state.

PUBG is the chad of video games and it isn’t even complete yet
PUBG, is a game that may or may not be fun, I havent played it so I honestly do not critic it on that front, im also not going to play it because fuck early access and lootboxes. You know what the AAA industry see when they look at PUBG? They don't see a pariah leeching on their turf, fuck no they see it as the ultimate buisness model to emulate because of how much fucking money it rakes in. I want them to look at games like Sesuna Sacrafice and see why that game is popular and then change their ways to emulate that game (there are other worthy games as well I just picked one of the top of my head), not the fucking early access game that is not finished, broken as shit and full of microtransactions. I'm sick to the back fucking teeth of the AAA industry and im sick of people holding PUBG above it like it's the saviour of us all, it's the fucking omen of gaming as far as im concerned. So thats why I don't like PUBG.

I find the art direction category hilarious because Cuphead is so blatantly obviously going to win it it hurts. Mind you it deserves it and then some, in an age where gaming feels more corporate than ever Cuphead is refreshing in how much genuine passion it has for gaming as an art form. And also the ballbusting labor that goes in to drawing the whole fucking game frame by frame in real life

Like it’s still gorgeous and a total labor of love but it’s not that cut and dry. I’d say the exactly the same about all three games bar the frame by frame part.

If Cuphead was made in the exact same way but looked like Nidhogg 2 it wouldn't deserve best art direction.
