Cuckolding can be positive for some couples, study says

Some couples who are extremely compatible emotionally aren't compatible sexually. Some of those people fetishize it and you get voluntary cuckoldry. Those that don't become swingers or have open marriages.
Turns out that if a couple that is satisfied with their relationship in every way except sexually gets that fulfillment elsewhere, it's a net positive for their relationship. Doesn't seem surprising.
I have no interest in cuckoldry whatsoever but this forum seems weirdly prudish where non-traditional relationships are concerned.

lol, nope.
Sorry meant to edit this into my other post. Honeslty though, I don't know what you mean.
I totally understand being in an open relationship, since it revolves around not having a super strong emotional attachment to the act of sex itself... but I literally cannot wrap my head around Cucking. It not only retains that same attachment while also having on partner get nailed by other people, but the fetish also typically revolves around the shame from inadequacy, the feeling of betrayal, etc.

Yeah, reading these replies this is the feeling I've been getting...I'm wondering if most of the negative replies are from people viewing it through the lens of the 4chan insult instead of separating that from the fetish.
Like c'mon guys, even in the small snippet quoted it specifies that it's referencing people who have a fetish, not that cuckolding unilaterally is good for relationships. If you read the article it's a pretty standard report from a study, tone down the dramatics lmao
I'm sort of interested in threesomes/multi-partner sex/open relations, and I can very well understand the allure if cucking only refers to things like that, such as threesomes; you take a break and watch your partner & the third person have sex, but you don't fully exclude yourself from the threesome, it's only a temporary break.
Now, I'd like to know if this study/people who use the term "cuck" actually refer to that, or only for cases where someone doesn't join a threesome at all, but only watches their partner and someone else have sex. Are you a cuck if you want to watch your partner have sex with someone else on rare occasions, but also have sex with your partner regularily? A lot of people seem to have very different ideas of what the term actually refers to.

It's not this forum, but it's western people in general mainly due to our cultural views on relationships and insecurity resulting from that.
Not too long ago historically for many people being with a non-virgin had a not entirely dissimilar reaction because you were just picking up a "used" vagina.
Isn't that what Anthony Burch and his wife did? Didn't turn out too well if I remember correctly.
I saw a monogamous couple break up once
Guess it's bad too then.
Also Iunno actually looking at the study itself it makes sense if you're into/open to that kind of thing, this isn't even a CNN thing, CNN is a pop journalist outlet so why would you expect them to represent a study well.
This is how most fetishes are too. If you're interested in it, and act on it consensually, it's usually a good thing. I guess with a few exceptions like if ur into vore I dunno if you'll be able to find someone to swallow whole.

Fetishizing negative emotions in a controlled environment is a common thing. Some men enjoy being tied up or otherwise rendered powerless. Some women enjoy rape fantasies. I've even heard of black couples roleplaying slavery. The idea is that by recreating a damaging, stressful emotional state in a context where the person is in control, they can emotionally stay in control the situation and derive pleasure from it. As weird as it might sound, yeah, that feeling of helplessness and betrayal is exactly what they're trying to create.

Anthony Burch had a failed open relationship, therefore all open relationships are doomed to fail
that's the embarrassing thing? not the fact that it got springboarded into the light it's in because of 4chan pissbabies?

also toxic masculinity etc
The fetish is all about embarrassment and humiliation, so does calling it embarrassing count as an insult?
Does anyone even take CNN seriously anymore?
My wife’s boyfriend thinks it’s great and I have to agree.

Are you actually in control in this situation, though?
I feel like this would lead to long-term feelings of inadequacy and resentment if you held that sex was a sacred act and then also had your partner fuck other people.
Lehmiller surveyed thousands of Americans and found that 58% of men and about a third of women had fantasized about cuckolding.
That's nuts, I wouldn't have guessed it would be that high for either gender.

I don't see what's so terrible about the cuckolding article.
Hey man, I'm no kinkshamer.
If they like it, whatever
Seems really weird that there's such an aggressive pushback on facepunch about this one specific fetish, particularly when so many of you degenerates are furries

At least I don't let other furries fuck my OC's wife!

"vore is ok but I'm drawing the line at cuckolding"

I guess being a furry means being for a fetish that encourages gaslighting?
I guess being a furry means being for a fetish that encourages gaslighting?
masochism and sadism incorporate abuse but I don't see much pushback for those when they are brought up
I guess being a furry means being for a fetish that encourages gaslighting?
With this argument you might as well say that encouraging furry fetishes is the same as encouraging bestiality

they're both shit and degenerate

It's just one of the easiest fetishes to make fun of. It just seems weird to me. If you have someone you love I'd think the last thing you'd want to do is watch someone else have sex with them. It feels like a betrayal if that makes sense. If it's consensual I say whatever, but it won't stop me from looking at a person weird for enjoying it.
lol half of the avatars on facepunch are hentai traps, cropped fury and loli porn, not to mention we had the weirdest boner thread forever and that was full (unironically) of shit from vore to inflation to latex bdsm, and people get awfully worked up and super serious about cuck fetish for some reason, as if that affects a relationship more seriously than some girl having a bf that jerks off to 13 year old anime girls or dogs
they're both shit and degenerate
I legitimately do not understand why people care this much about what other people are attracted to, tbh.
If you want to talk about "degenerate behavior", let's analyze the fact that many of us here spend a sizeable chunk out of most days alone on the internet.

no ones making articles suggesting a relationship built on or improved by domestic beatings, either
