Germans only consider 5 places safe to travel to (and one is Germany)
America is fine, really. If you're white and/or going to standard visiting places in the US you basically have nothing to worry about. Not to make it sound like you'll get fucked with if you're a minority. Maybe if you're a muslim in the south then I'd be worried about people being uncomfortable around you or harassment. The south sucks anyway.
That said America's crime rates are vaslty overstated by the media because they get more money and views by depicting us as on the border of Mad Max style anarchy. In reality, crime rates have been falling for decades across the board. As long as you stay in a relatively affluent area (and why would you visit a shit part of america on purpose anyway) you will almost certainly be fine. And even if you are a minority or not visiting the wealthiest part of america, you'll still probably be fine. I live in the suburbs and walk around at night without even the slightest fear every night cause I live in the pussy ass suburbs and nothing is gonna happen to me.
Long story short despite our reputation this is not mad max and you will almost certainly not see 8 mass shootings, 6 molesters, 7 protests, 5 racists, 3 police shootings, 0 decency, or get shot 9 times in a routine traffic stop. Jenny, jenny.
No go zones don't exist in Europe either

get bitten by smaller creatures to build up a resistance to larger ones you poofter
What the hell, why do 47% of the people in the study find Scandinavia unsafe? Literally nothing ever happens in Finland, and I doubt too much happens in any of the actual Scandi countries either. I'd accept if they found Scandinavia too boring to visit, but unsafe?

The study actually asks if you feel comfortable and safe in these regions.
I wouldn't feel comfortable in a country that I subjectively don't like (i.e. because of climate) or that doesn't interest me (i.e. because of history).
Personally I'd love to visit scandinavia, but I can totally understand people that would favor hot beaches
The article in the OP doesn't actually bring that important nuance across and doesn't even link to the source

I have a German friend who loves going to Australia every winter. However, he colludes with the most dangerous creature there: The Australian.

Literally my Aunt: Too cold for vacation, I want beaches

Don't forget the magpies.. you're not safe in any biome.
There's not really a lot of "random" violence in the US. You aren't going to get shot for walking down the street. If you're trying to rip off a drug dealer or sticking up a gas station, your odds of catching a bullet go up.
It's so tiring seeing people say they don't feel safe visiting America, like the 320 million people who already live here just have some kind of magical crime shield that makes them immune to the obviously rampant crime that will take the first unshielded innocent foreigner who steps off an airplane.
Like others have said, we're not that horrid. Ive been to LA a handful of times and been completely fine. Drove from Florida through Georgia (Atlanta traffic is a bitch though) to the Smokies and again had zero issues. Upstate New York was nice to visit after so many years. Currently in Ft. Myers helping my Mom at her shop through the holiday season, where we actually get a good amount of German tourists. Really nice people, cool to talk to and support the business.
Hop on a plane and come on over, The US in it's current state politically is wacky yes, but we're not anywhere near close to turning into Fallout: THE EXPERIENCE. If you have common sense, you're golden.
Most countries on earth are completely fine to travel to if you know what you are doing.
Even places like Mexico and Iran are great places to visit if you stay out of the shitty spots. Articles like this suck balls.

Like a cherry on top innit? You stick to the pavement and your eyes on the ground, and then you get dive-bombed by birds!
Tbf, I'm pretty scared of visiting the US. All it takes is one wrong move to readjust your pants
The amount of agrees this got is hilarious.
As far as the US is concerened, as has been said many times, if you're not a gang banger doing drug deals or hanging around ghettos in massive cities like Baltimore or south side Chicago you are going to be just fine. Its not random acts of violence against average people that drive those numbers up, it's infighting between people involved with gangs and drugs in big cities.

Yeah but you only need to win that lottery once and then you're dead, for eternity. So yeah unless the country is as statistically as safe as my own country, I'm not risking it. Especially since tourist hotspots are huge targets for terrorism.
Might be irrational, might be "letting terrorism win," but I'd rather be irrational than dead.
You can be irrational, I'll be Free™ :terrists:

Even in the South no one is going to say shit to you for being non-white/non-Christian. It's not "American is fine as long as you're white." America is fine regardless. You're not going to find those people unless you go looking for them. The extreme vast majority of touristy locations in the south will not bother you. You're not going to get judged for being a Muslim unless you go to butt-fuck nowhere in Alabama or something... If you go to popular destinations in Florida, Texas, Louisiana, etc you'll be fine.
Considering how the question was worded I would probably say no to the US as well.
I wouldn't consider it unsafe, but the comfortable part would be mixed.
Then again, I'm not really the travel person, I like to stick to places close by.
Camping at the Baltic Sea has always been nice. :v:
I still think that "study" lacks a real source and the questioning process is flawed by the way.
The only thing I could agree one would be countries like Turkey, Egypt or Tunisia.
The good old countries of "Caribean" and "South America"

I'm free here too, in an actual democracy, with less chance of getting shot in the face over trivial matters.

Honestly even this opinion is overblown massively.
Any tourist spot in the South is probably used to seeing middle eastern folks, Asian, etc. Just about as much as any West Coast or Northeast corridor spot is, maybe a little less at most. Unless you're going to the ass end of a gravel road in Appalachia or deep down into the swamp in Mississippi, you're gonna be fine. Even then I doubt anyone would give you any real trouble, honestly. Certaintly wouldn't say it's dangerous to visit unless you're going to go out of your way to pick at people for a reaction.
You'd be surprised how many minorities in the Southeast and Deep South manage to get alone with each other and white folks just fine every day, I think.

Let me add that absolutely nobody anywhere in the country no matter where you're from is going to just up and murder you solely for being a foreigner.
It's not just "oh you'll be fine as long as you stay away from xyz," it's "you'll be fine as long as you don't seek out and inflame people who might be looking for an excuse to hurt somebody," which can be said for literally any country.

This is plain naive.
I don't think everybody who was gunned down at the Las Vegas shooting did anything along the lines of "seek out or inflame people who might be out for an excuse to hurt somebody".

Don't presume to tell me about my country. I live here. I promise I know more about it than you do. Do you mean to tell me that you believe terror attacks only happen in America? I'll ask you again, where do you live where nobody's ever been murdered pointlessly by a whacko?

Okay you live in America, so tell me all about how shooting victims "just bring it upon themselves," (to paraphrase).
Also, I didn't say there's no violent crime in my country. I'm just saying I have less of a chance of getting shot in the face here than I do there.

I've lived here for 22 years. In fact, I grew up in Fort Worth, where gang activity was rampant. I haven't been shot in the face yet. I haven't been threatened with a gun at all. The majority of shooting deaths in the US occur either during domestic disputes (family violence) or between gangs. Are you afraid you're going to accidentally join the Crips while touring the United States? If not, you don't really have much to worry about.
Citing exceptionally rare terror attacks to try and characterize the entire US as dangerous to tourists and random bystanders is moronic. You have a better chance of being struck by lightning on a sunny day than being victimized in a shooting like that.

So your logic here is because you've never been shot in the face, everybody else should be good?
So your logic here is because you've never been shot in the face, everybody else should be good?
Yes, the vast majority of Americans have never been shot in the face. The reason for that is because shootings are statistically negligible outside of hotspots facing extreme poverty like Detroit.
Your logic on the other hand is that because there was a shooting in Las Vegas, tourists are in mortal danger regardless of which part of the United States they visit and should never have left their home countries. That is very sound. :ok:

Actually, my logic is that my family is safer in places where they're less likely to be victims. Like in a developed country.

I hope that you're being obtuse for arguments sake, and not actually because that's what you believe.
