Thing about both those systems is they lauched in the holiday season, that holiday rush sold a ton of them by itself.
Nintendo will have this initial launch rush then by holiday season Mario comes in like the Koolaid man in november and then the holiday sales rush starts.

I just kept checking with the electronics department at the local supermarket when they would get a shipment, eventually found out they were getting stock last Sunday, waited an hour before opening and grabbed one. I recommend checking at stores that usually aren't thought of as electronic stores, like if you have any Fred Meyers or other Walmart esque supermarkets. People tend to forget they exist.
