Rabies is extremely lethal and a horrifying way to die. Untreated, the mortality rate is 100%. There are no known survivors.
If you get the antidote within 24 hours or within 48 hours if you are vaccinated, you are almost certain to live. However if you wait until you get the first symptoms, the mortality rate is 100%. Meaning that by the time you know you have it, you are already dead.
I wonder how and if these kids figured out what was happening in time. Maybe a lot of them died before they figured it out.
I mean I guess it's better that they raped a donkey instead of an actual human...?

Not really, several people with rabies survived after being put in an induced coma while treating them.

However, this method has only a 14% survival rate in top notch hospitals, is still experimental and inducing a coma has a high chance to cause permanent brain damage.

The success rate of this treatment is still pretty low, and it requires delicate monitoring, medicating, and attendance that may not be available to all of these children (plus, its not been proven in studies or verified as a suitable treatment yet). Rabies still remains incredibly lethal.

It's universally more acceptable to eat an animal because it's a form of sustenance.
I'm pretty sure I can live my life quite well without having sex with an animal, while I might have some trouble actually living if I didn't eat any animals.

There are really only two ways you can approach this argument, and both lead to ruin.
- Argue that it's bad to eat and kill an animal and we shouldn't do both.
- Argue that Killing an animal isn't as bad as raping it.
comedy hurr option that gets you mocked: argue that consent is a human invention and doesn't apply to animals so we should be free to fuck, eat, and abuse it (actual argument that zoophilliacs use)
I like to do a hybrid of the top two:
Raping an animal when you don't need to rape an animal is bad (you never need to rape an animal so...). Eating animals when you don't need to eat an animal is bad. We should lower our dependency on animal meat for it is causing damage to our health and our ecosystem due to poorly regulated factory farming.

There's a key difference in doing that sort of thing in a culture where it is seen as disgusting and illegal versus a culture who has grown to see it positively. Like in that Colombian documentary, if everybody is doing something, you will naturally be drawn to do it (especially if you were born there/live there), and if a foreigner tells you you shouldn't do it, you'd get upset or you'd make up excuses as to why it's okay/good. Just feels like you're standing atop a high pedestal, refusing to put any kind of understanding to the situation and just condemning everyone that does it.
I'm sure most of these people wouldn't be fucking donkeys if their parents and friends weren't also fucking donkeys. It's much easier to do something with a group and have social acceptance than doing something that would bring you shame or make you stand out from your peers.
I don't even need to say nothing, if they get rabies, they already got what they deserved.
