Still it makes sense that some sort of partner ship would actually arise from the connection. Who knows, Blizzard might add more Activision titles down the line.
Can't wait for future Call of Duty titles to come to Battle.net.
What the hell? A non-Blizzard game on battle.net?
Very bizarre.
IIRC Blizzard co-developed the first one, and is even more hands-on with Destiny 2.

They can get more money from loot boxes that way, valve gets no transaction cut

Where did you hear that?
Well the nice thing is you can buy destiny 2 with blizzbucks so I always been farming herbs and selling flasks on the wow auction house to convert and I'll have plenty for that as well as fueling all the blizzard microtransactions.

No. Wow is a horribly optimized game. With a 970 and an i7 4770, I would go from 144 to 20 at random times, for no apparent reason. This was not exclusive to me.

Wow is using an engine that has been modified consistently for over a decade now. There is no doubt that it is a mess of spaghetti code. TF2 suffers the same.problem.
In fact, the code to the game is such a mess that when asked if they would ever increase the size of the default bag, the devs responded with "the code is too unorganized, we don't know how to do that"

The release of Legion was the smoothest launch ever and I'm hoping it's an indication that they've finally learned how to handle high profile launches.

There's been some hints lately that they're working on some pretty significant changes to the engine. Wouldn't be surprised if we see a (partial?) overhaul in 8.0.

Some backend stuff regarding shaders has been changing recently (introduced in 7.2) referencing shaders that aren't being shipped with the current version of the game yet and a Blizz employee dropped a hint that there's some hefty graphics changes coming up that should solve some of the issues Mac users have been seeing.
Now that I sit here and think about I'm not sure why they're doing it. From PC Gamer's Interview with David Shaw
With Destiny 1 multiplayer, there were some issues with latency. And PC gamers demand very tight latency in multiplayer games. Have you taken any extra steps with the PC version to facilitate that?
We’ve done a bunch of stuff overall. We’ve heard that across the board, so we have looked at our tech and tried to figure out "okay, where can we optimize, how can we reduce that." So there is new tech coming, but I would say that, at the moment, it’s not specifically geared toward PC. But again, we have things we are doing to kind of get to the last push, so we’re very cognizant of those issues and we’re definitely trying to deliver the best experience possible.
Is it still peer-to-peer in terms of the multiplayer? Are there dedicated servers?
It is a complicated typology. We do not have dedicated servers for Destiny 2 on PC.
I was certain they were going with Bnet so Blizzard can front the bill for servers, and that doesn't seem to be the case.
We do not have dedicated servers for Destiny 2 on PC.
Oh god whyyyyy. This makes no sense, doesn't Destiny have a lot of persistent world stuff? Peer to peer can be very shitty.
Definitely going to wait on people saying how the multiplayer works after that announcement.

Bungie's netcode is top-tier as far as things go considering they pioneered the idea of P2P online multiplayer.
Also I think this is just for PVP. The PVE world has to be server based with the way it functions.
This is a better outcome than it being on Steam tbh. Battle.net can handle this kind of high player volume game better than Steam, plus the way bnet integrates chat into the game is really useful.
Battle.net can handle a game better than Steam, with its 12,000,000+ concurrent users can?
What?

The first Destiny was P2P aswell was it not?
I hardly played PVP in 1 but PVE seemed to work fine
1st destiny had the same p2p problem that halo 2 has.
if you lag, you win. the netcode favors the lagger. shoot the dude 9 times only 3 bullets register then you suddenly die.
this is the only major problem in destiny imo

Destiny PvP on 100/100 connection vs other people on good connections was an amazing experience. Hopefully PC ver will somehow support servers, or at least then you could have someone with amazing internet hold the fort as lobby leader.

I highly doubt that's what their response was saying. The issue with their default bag is probably that it has been hardcoded since the beginning of the game, instead of being an actual "bag" object like the other bags you can get. Hence, their database structure and by relation every single character's inventory has been built around a constant number for the base slots. Simply changing the value would throw everybody's inventory out of alignment and upgrading every single character's inventory in the database would probably be too large of a chore to tackle. It's certainly not that they "don't know how".
apparently this has caused an enormous spike in the price of WoW tokens which can be bought for irl money, sold in wow for gold and redeemed for battle.net balance.

I actually did this for Overwatch lootboxes and it worked out really well.
Just sit on the tokens for a month or two and they rise in price pretty nicely.

That's weird, because David Shaw's been saying PC will be able to run uncapped or whatever your hardware can handle. It's just consoles that won't break the 30 fps.
Actually, looks like they just butchered the quote's context. It's referring to PS4 Pro, not PC. What kind of shitty news site is that anyways?
The original WoW developers decided that there would be an array to hold your inventory. The first several entries are things that end up on the paper doll, your head and leg slots and such. After that comes your inventory. At some point they wanted to add a bank to the game, so they added that to the end of the array. Players shouldn't be able to access their bank anywhere in the world, as it would break the code. This was handled by adding lots of statements in different places in the code, defining what the array position was where the inventory ended and where the bank begins. This value was hardcoded all over the place, but it isn't just a simple search to find them all. Some math logic may rely on it being constant. If you want to add slots to the backpack, who knows what you are going to break? It becomes very buggy and error prone, and likely that you are going to make a mistake. This mistake would break the game in a way you don't like. As a result, they would have to put amazing engineers that could be working on new features on a task to look through thousands of lines of code to find all of those cases, as well as the QA department testing every edge case in the world to ensure the change doesn't break anything. This is how we ended up with a fixed size backpack.
breaking inventory in WoW would be absolutely catastrophic. blizz would have to add a whole seperate inventory system then transition everything to it. its not that they couldn't do it but they just can't justify the expense of time and technical staff to do it. its easier just to add bigger and bigger bags

So, basically exactly what I said. Hard coded base bags. It just makes it a colossal PITA to change, to the point that it's not worth it. Not at all that they don't know how.
Also, that's got nothing to do with how optimized the game is. Their messy statements in terms of storing items wouldn't have any effect on the rendering pipeline or logic in the game that runs, say, every frame. Their rendering code can be freely modified without worrying about the things you'd have to worry about for a hardcoded inventory because drawing items on screen doesn't exactly have any risks similar to breaking every single character's inventory serverside. I'd honestly argue that yes, WoW is in fact very optimized at least in the areas that directly affect the players, because I've never had an unacceptable FPS, even on an old eMachines computer on XP with an integrated GPU back in the day.
No. Wow is a horribly optimized game. With a 970 and an i7 4770, I would go from 144 to 20 at random times, for no apparent reason. This was not exclusive to me.
