Most of the hate for destiny 2 is "because it's destiny", even though it fixes a good amount of the issues with the previous game. I knew this would happen however, because the internet loves to bash on games even if they haven't played it.

I started playing destiny in year 2 with The Taken King, and I don't really recognize most of the criticism.
The game has changed a lot during the past few years.

i expected destiny 2 to be a turn-based jrpg set in rural 1890s america, not this rehash shooting guns shit
the Gunplay in destiny is godtier, im glad its barely changed. All the major changes are mainly in how the classes/subclasses, Equippable guns, new gun additions, Level design, massive patrol rework, n stuff work but the bungie peeps barely talked about that. Destiny 2 already looks entirely different than D1 in that aspect
im excited that they're calling it battlenet again more than anything
According to Blizzard, they misspoke and it's still Blizzard app. :v:

Every time a sequel to a big game comes out you have people saying "It looks like the lst game with some changes. That's disappointing."
What the hell were they expecting, for it to turn into a kart racer where you use trading cards to unlock new characters?
I think people wouldn't have been as underwhelmed if they actually showed how the new patrol areas work, which is where the bulk of the big changes seem to be going. Strikes and story missions were already fixed with The Taken King - there's not a whole lot you can do to improve them at this point. Everyone is probably just worried that Bungie is going to let us all down again somehow, which is understandable considering how Destiny 1.0 was an expensive three year tease that never fully delivered on its original promises.

It takes weeks, sometimes months to create these press builds, time that could've gone to the game's development, imagine how much more it would've taken to create a press build in such of an unstructured area like a patrol zone.
Yeah I made a post or two talking about how it looks almost exactly the same but I should have added the qualifier that there isn't expressly anything wrong with that.
Destiny's gameplay (particularly after TTK) was really fun, and I only stopped playing after I got to the point where I had to raid to get better loot.
They added several different paths to Max level in the April update, made it less of a grind. I hit 400 on all 3 characters, two of which I made in March.

I haven't raided since year 2
Honestly if you're hating on destiny have you even played the recent expansions

I actually have a problem with it, it's far too easy and fast to reach max light level.

Honestly studios these days pour way too much resources into increasing fidelity at the expense of everything else. So if they want to just focus on adding more and providing better content with a sequel that's a-okay with me.

Not like it matters anymore. :v:

Right, I just hope they don't make it too easy for Destiny 2.
I do agree it's easier than ever before now to hit the cap, but it's nice being able to hit the cap doing something other than raiding. That's something they have to find a balance in, either you shut out like 60% of the userbase from hitting the cap by locking it behind raid gear like in year one, or now here in year 3 fucking everything can drop Max level gear.
That's the everlasting dilemma of server-sided loot games like this.
Do you risk alienating/frustrating 60% of your playerbase?
~or~
Do you make god-tier loot or ~~rarest~~ loot a snoozefest?
Honestly speaking, Destiny is not even the worst case of RNG and if you say it is, that's just entirely being disingenuous and exacerbating details.
Coming from Korean MMOs, these droprates I would argue are the best and Diablo 3 is just a snoozefest to get "perfect" rolls when the meta changes every season. Destiny for me scratches that MMORPG itch of feeling relief when the item you want drops perfectly.
Not too easy so I can come back to raids like proper raids should be back in the WoW and XFire/Ventrilo/IRC days. But not too anal frustrating to the point of some Korean MMOs where it takes months to grind out the materials to craft your weapon and you risk the chance of the weapon "blowing up" when you enhance/enchant it, which is a necessary evil for all Korean MMOs at this point if you wanna stay relevant.
