while i kinda believe most /pol/posters are master shitposters, to me it feels like a lot of people including the original jokesters have been taken over by their own game to the point where they are actually believing this shit
well there was a major stormfront invasion before, and a massive t_d influx during the election. the spilling on other boards seems to be slowing down a bit though, people are sick of it now.
Pretty absurd to get outraged about something as stupid as this. "It's okay to be white" Yes, yes it is. Why feed into the narrative by obsessing about this and decrying the interpreted message?
People who think /pol/ is a joke still are wrong at this point, /pol/ has been occupied by stormfront and is being used as a tool for actual nazis to organize.
People who think /pol/ is a joke still are wrong at this point, /pol/ has been occupied by stormfront and is being used as a tool for actual nazis to organize.
they keep leaking into the other boards and posting shit too, not just blatant nazi shit either, some of it is subversive shit to form/enforce stereotypes or make you feel inferior for being white e.g /gif/ interracial cuck threads are often started by /pol/ peeps to make you fear getting cucked by an ethnic minority when really its probably more likely gonna happen from someone of whatever the predominant ethnicity is. [editline]2nd November 2017[/editline] Or in /his/ where they come along spreading racist bs. Like the "we wus kings" meme, there were legit african kings (like mansa musa) who were successful but /pol/ peeps come in and try to diminish/deny any of this to push their weird narrative.
jokes on you fucko im drinking away my liver and smoking away my lungs, ill be long gone before i get skin cancer
If the jaundice turns your skin yellow you won't have to worry about being white anymore.
Lmao same stupid logic as "healthy at any size". Being white is indicative of severe melanin deficiency which means higher rate of skin cancer. There's no such thing as "healthy in any colour"
Don't people with darker skin have a higher rate of stomach cancer too?
Don't people with darker skin have a higher rate of stomach cancer too?
White people have lower rates than other races, but its likely caused by diet or genetic factors other than skin color, because it's about the same for African Americans as Asian/Pacific islanders.

It's actually pretty clever from a social engineering perspective what they're up to, but depressing how well it works (and how most people don't want to acknowledge that it does)
Therefore I think the response should be "It's okay to be white, but it's not okay to be a white supremacist."
That just proves them right, you can't make a statement about being white without needing to conflate it with something negative. The best response would be no response, but people are going to pick at this like a scab.

Why doesn't it say "It's alright to be white". That's the part that offends me the most.
Why doesn't it say "It's alright to be white". That's the part that offends me the most.
Probably to avoid people running up and putting a t between al and right.
no? You are chatting shit. This poster propagates the narrative that whites are somehow oppressed, that someone of relevance at some point stated that its not ok to be white. Which is utter bullshit, the only people who say that are Mugabe, idiot students, mentally unstable peeps and sinister hardcore conservative (not all conservatives) types who seek to spread and reinforce a narrative that benefits their agenda. There are racial issues but in the US black peeps get the worst of it longer sentences for the same crimes, higher chance of being stop and searched (ironically leading to a proportion of stops leading to stuff being found), black families have far less wealth than white families. Posters/slogans/movements like this are there to stop anything being done about this, its saying "Whites are the TRUE oppressed minority!" which, while might be the case occasionally, is generally bullshit since the problem lies with class, not with race. I mean it originated with /pol/ so the intention is crystal clear.
You're completely missing the ball. Nobody's saying white people are any more or less oppressed. I've been guilt tripped for being white. People like to spin up a narrative where by just existing, you are contributing to the problem. My sister lives in the middle of super liberal Brooklyn and this is the kind of stuff I hear from her/her friends. I obviously don't take it to heart, but if people can be stupid enough to believe this and say it to me, then people are out there who are stupid enough to be hurt by hearing it. Yes, /pol/ is getting ridiculous with all the "thinly veiled racism by turning social issues into memes" bullshit. But in this case, they aren't trying to hurt anybody, they're trying to provoke an absurdist response to show irony. Which is fine, yeah, because it's absurd to be a scapegoat just because you're white.
This isn't actually as harmless as it seems. This kind of rhetoric is meant to reinforce the narrative that whites are under attack, which white supremacists use to rope in more recruits for their movement.
That might be too sinister. It's more or less a testing of the water of political correctness, identity politics, and multiculturalism after trump and brexit. It's a litmus test for how the left feels about whites, just how much it is allowed to be talk about race and identity when its viewed as an oppressive majority that acts as a barrier to equality and free movement, and should be quiet because it has no experience with racism. It's brilliant because it shows how the left can put egalitarianism beyond liberal values at the expense of it, epitomized by a hilariously ironic racial hierarchy This is basically a response to critical race theory taught on campus, the institutional eye being placed on whites for their reactions to diversity, the lack of virtue of having too many whites (especially men), and some radicals on the left labeling all whites as racist, destroying monuments of western history and renaming stuff, and suggesting we're never far removed from our roots as a republic of white male property owners so all culture and individual expressions of it can be called into question ("call out culture") The majority of the US agrees political correctness is a problem. Good on /pol/ for taking a break from harassment and doing something useful for normal people.
Seen it around my campus. Almost tempted to join in cause its just so asinine and easy to troll.
I've been guilt tripped for being white. People like to spin up a narrative where by just existing, you are contributing to the problem. My sister lives in the middle of super liberal Brooklyn and this is the kind of stuff I hear from her/her friends.
Apologies I didn't realise people actually got guilt tripped for being white, i mean i the occasional case of students going silly and mad people on buses but I didn't know it was a common, mainstream thing; must be different in the US than in the UK (where I am). Still, I don't think /pol/ and this plot are doing anything to make the situation better over there, imo they're probably intentionally trying to make it worse. [editline]2nd November 2017[/editline] It's pretty artful, its hard to prove the extent of racism. For racism against ethnic minorities, despite the recorded figures being in the 1000s /pol/ (and others) will use the occasional flase flag to shed doubt onto the whole narrative. People not of those ethnic minorities will fall for this since they have no first hand experience and those handfuls of false flags will have a bigger impact than some boring police stats. At the time you have this apparent racism against white people. Now straight away this has a big mental impact "what! thats racism against me!" so the target is more likely to buy the narrative because it directly effects them. The person pushing this "racism against whites" narrative can then provide the person with examples, heres a black guy attacking a disabled person on a bus, here are some students blocking people from walking through, here is an angry person amongst an otherwise peaceful crowd of 1000s of people, here is a story about "positive discrimination" these are far more compelling and personal than actual stats. Soon the narrative is established and people think they're being victimised, they think that "positive discrimination" is the reason they can't get a job (when the reality is that least some ethnic minotiries are at a big disadvantage when it comes to hiring) And this is only regarding job hiring, look into wages, promotion and criminal justice. Now all this isn't saying that racism against whites doesn't exist, those examples with the students singling out white peeps are clear examples of racism against whites but its a problem of perceived scale. I think the above should hopefully demonstrate that racism against none whites (in US and UK) is a larger issue than racism against whites but, due to it being more personally shocking, I get the impression that people don't realise that. And to make matters worse groups who's aim is to stop this racism are smeared by /pol/type people and accused of themselves being racist against whites. Add to this the famous quote "When You’re Accustomed to Privilege, Equality Feels Like Oppression" you have people normal, good people who, through fear of white racism, find themselves on the same side as alt-right, /pol/ and neo nazis because they are opposing racial equality groups for fear of racism against whites. It's a bit of a rough post and I hope I'm not downplaying racism against whites too much but I feel it demonstrates the relative scales of the issues and the intentions of groups like /pol/

They put up the posters to cause sjw outrage which makes pol look like the better side.
Oh god tell me about it. Can’t go into /gsg/ without “WE WUZ” and “religion of peace amirite” plastered everywhere
I abandoned /gsg/ ages ago for that reason, but even /twg/ and /civ4xg/ are beginning to succumb to it.
But I thought containment worked!
Alt-Right Radiation leaks, apparently.
I can remember back in the day when /n/ was shuttered and the few who took to shit that up to shit up the rest of the site, and people were just told to fuck off. Those were the days...
I think it's a smart play. There's hardly any way to respond to it without playing into /pol/'s hands. If you leave it alone, it alone reinforces the whites are under attack narrative by putting forward the presumption that it's thought that it's a commonly held idea that it's not okay to be white nowadays. If you attack it, you look like someone who's saying it's not okay to be white, which again supports the narrative /pol/ wants to push. You can try to de-construct it and point out what it's doing but the only people who are gonna read that are people already into social justice politics, so you're just preaching to the choir, to people who don't need to have it explained to them. Bretty good.

Bretty good.
Yeah, I think it is potentially the best piece of social engineering I've seen them come up with, and they're disturbingly good at it in general. I despise them and the shit they do, but I have to admire the aplomb with which they carry it out.
Remember the contra points video I posted: decrypting the alt-right? This is made so that the racism goes over people's heads like adult jokes in kids' shows. Taking it down then just looks like hysterics. If you're not convinced it's racism just look at where it's coming from.
Oh, so /pol/ got bored of shitposting on their board and now they're trying to shitpost in real life. Masters of two worlds.
Therefore I think the response should be "It's okay to be white, but it's not okay to be a white supremacist."
Suppose I'm some random guy who has little awareness of racial politics but has heard sensationalist headlines from time to time about crazy SJWs. Suppose I live in a social bubble in some predominantly-white suburban or rural area and have no personal connection to these issues. Now suppose I hear about this story. Someone posted up a sign saying 'It's okay to be white'. Other people are getting mad. Others are saying 'It's okay to be white, but it's not okay to be a white supremacist'. I don't know what /pol/ is. I don't know what dogwhistle is, or what they're really implying, or the fact that this is obvious bait. I just see someone saying it's okay to be white, which in my mind is a reasonable statement and probably a reaction to the nuttery I hear about on college campuses, but then here you are talking about white supremacy. Without all that background knowledge, as far as I'm aware you've brought up white supremacy out of nowhere and implied that it's directly related to 'being okay with being white', and I'm probably not going to take too kindly to that. Phrases like 'It's okay to be Muslim, it's not okay to be a terrorist' may be perfectly reasonable in very specific contexts (eg, in response to a Jihadi cleric interpreting criticism of extremist violence as an attack on Islam as a whole), but if your audience doesn't have that context then as far as they're aware you're implying these things go hand-in-hand. Most people don't know what /pol/ is, or have any understanding of where this is coming from. They're taking the simple facts at face value, and by trying to address the underlying message it looks to them like you're associating unrelated things. They're going to look at your response and say 'The sign just says it's okay to be white, but this guy is acting like it said it's okay to be a white supremacist. There must be people who think those are the same thing.' And there you go, you've reinforced the /pol/ narrative. If you're going to respond to something like this, you have to explain and address the dogwhistle. Any reply that relies on understanding the dogwhistle is going to backfire if the audience doesn't share that understanding. If there isn't an opportunity to do that full explanation it's better to take it on a surface level, ignore it, and move on.
Oh god tell me about it. Can’t go into /gsg/ without “WE WUZ” and “religion of peace amirite” plastered everywhere
I mean, Alberto Barbosa is actually a pretty funny meme.
